I tend to meet my Halifax bank account bonus criteria by paying off my Tesco and/or AMEX credit cards.  Using my debit card details.
I’ve noticed that for a while they have offered up a ‘Pay By Bank’ method, claiming it to be simple, fast, popular (their words).
Any idea that if I started doing it this way instead, that it would no longer satisfy my bonus criteria?
im also wondering how much longer I might have £500s worth of spending per month to get it done this way, may need to cut back later this year.

“Pay by bank” does not use your debit card, thus won’t help with meeting the spend for the reward.
The easiest way to ‘spend’ your monthly £500 is using an easy access savings account. If you only have one Reward account, you could consider linking it to your CHIP instant access account. Make sure you turn off autosaving though. If you don’t do app banking, there are a couple of other savings account options that work

Skipton Building Society accept debit card payments into their savings account. As do Cambridge Building Society.
These count for the £500 spend for the reward.
Only thing is you have to wait about three days for the payment to clear before you can pay it back into your bank account, although Skipton have a reasonable interest rate on their easy access savings accountI consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?2

We use Skipton for the Halifax £500 debit card spend. We make sure to do it Monday or Tuesday as we are not sure whether it will take 2 extra days to clear due to the weekend if we did it Thursday or Friday. We also do it in the morning and have always been able to withdraw 2 days later ie debit card withdrawal to Skipton on Monday morning followed by withdrawal back to nominated account on Wednesday. We use OH`s Skipton account (she is able to utilise the starting rate for savings so has most of our savings) and it is useful that they allow my debit card payment as well as hers.surreysaver said:Skipton Building Society accept debit card payments into their savings account. Revolut account works for me. The return of the £500 to my "usual" bank account was blocked the first time but a bit of online chat got it shifted after 30 minutes. Month 2 onwards was fine.1
