Moving from Vodafone to...?

Hey guys,
Our Vodafone contract is up soon, currently on £25 per month. Upon trying to haggle we were offered the same price for a 24 month contract for fibre2.
This didn't seem too bad to me - not as good as a new customer deal but better than the £50 they wanted to charge!
My wife seems keen to go with a different provider...
We've had Virgin before and it was a bit of a nightmare, we had plus net and it was also not great. Vodafone is the best of the bunch so far but the router could be better imo.
So, would you stick at £25 for Fibre2, or go with someone else? Sky or BT look to be more like 27-30. I don't fancy NowTV, seems like it would be pants!
Suggestions most welcome!

Also curious how it all works these days. I think back in the day it was basically BT were the backbone and others would sort of use this infrastructure and spin their own off if type thing.. Except for stuff like NTL (eek!).
Now with this whole ftc type setup I guess it's changed perhaps.
I'm not sure how one assesses the reliability and speed quotes really - I can see the customer service scores, but I'm not overly fussed about them - I mean we've never had to call Vodafone, so not too concerned!
Is there some kind of stability/speed/contention stats or league tables somewhere?!0 -
It's kind of against the ethos of this site but personally if you are happy with the service you are getting and the price seems reasonable, which it does, (don't forget the annual price rise coming up) I'd just renew and forget about it.

Yeah, I actually think we'd be best placed to stay put. My wife seems a bit narked off they didn't do something better so is keen to go elsewhere! I may try and convince her to call up and cancel the cancel!0

You don't want to cancel, you could end up with no internet service and several weeks wait for another supplier to reinstate. If you are going to switch then the new supplier will sort out cancellation of the old service.
As ever, if you can find the same service for cheaper and it all swaps OK then you are a hero, when it goes to ratpoop and no-one is answering the phone at DelBoyInternet then it's all your fault.0 -
Yeah, I get your point, really I think once price is put aside the decision should be like top trumps cards!
Points for
Customer service
Outage minutes per year
Contention
Ping/latency averages
Actual average speeds vs quoted etc.
I understand not all of these will be possible, but you get the idea.
Anyhow, I'm going go strongly suggest my wife calls off the cancellation, and remind her she uses the Internet all the time for her exercise routines, TV etc!0 -
If you are one of the few who has had a satisfactory service from Vodafone (most problems seem to come with the migrations) and the price is comparable to others then not sure there is much point in moving.
Any other providers is going to be using OpenReach, hey are all going to be pretty much the same speed wise. The only difference will be bandwidth on the providers backbone which tends not to be an issue these days.
I would try to get an 18 month deal from them for the same amount if you could.0 -
I am with talk talk fibre 65, it's forever going down everyday, been fixed numerous times.
My contract is up in March so I'm changing supplier
I am also moving in February and will probably sign up to Virgin fibre 125 at £18 something. that deal ends January 5th0 -
I am in the same boat, they have also offered me the same package for £25, when I said I would think about it they quickly lost interest. The only alternative is Plusnet with £100 cb which brings it down to around £20 a month.0
