Nice to hear you are on the mend & move, the smaller rehab hospital sounds similar to the one I finished up in, walking wounded type of place, very friendly & much more homely with separate sitting area doubling as canteen for those of use that could walk/ hobble thereHope you continue to improve once thereEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8

Thank you YBE I am definitely an eternal optimist
and my glass is always half full
No point stressing as it won't change anything .
I do try to see the absurdity of lifeand the funny side which drives my eldest DD up the wall, as she says I rarely take life seriously enough. But life is far too short and goes far too quickly to be miserable.
I thought maybe my new neighbour Betty was feeling a bit scared and alone, so many folk are when they come into hospital.
This morning when the breakfast stuff came around, she was worried as she thought she would have to pay for it and had no immediate cash on her. Bless her, the dear little nurse assured her she wouldn't have to pay anything but even so she would only have a drink of milk. She said she had never ever been in a hospital before and lived in a care home which was obviously paid for. She has no family, and as I'm shortly to be moved to another hospital, but I spoke to one of the more mobile patients on the ward and she said she would keep an eye out for her.
Its so sad when there is no one around to reassure her .The nurses do their best but are run off their feet most of the time. She's just gone off for an X-ray as they think where she had a fall she may have injured some bones in her leg/knee as its pretty swollen, and very sore but she's a very stoic lady -if a trifle too keen om music-so i'm sure she will be sorted asap.
Just awaiting transport at the moment but the nurse has said she's no idea when that will appear eitherOh well nothing I can do about it just have another cuppa and read my book.

JackieO - hospital transport says a time and then you wait ages. Mr F went to rehab in Tenterden from Canterbury hospital - it was a small homely place. They got him mobile and had adaptations done in our house so he could return home.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

JackieO - hope the move to Sittingbourne goes great.
My mother kept singing "Amazing Grace" all night when she was in a nursing home - so they had to sedate her at night. Fortunately, when she came home and was still singing all night, I had a friend come in to sit with her that liked to sing too - so they sang other songs as well.
Have you considered writing up some of the stories of your youth and childhood, or even your money-saving ideas for posting later while you are in bed.
Get well soon. When you get out, remember to let the younger people do all of the lifting and moving of boxes. You just sit and point at which box goes next.12 -
Good news thn Jackie, glad you're one step [ almost] closer! I think I'd have found a convenient chair leg and beat her with it if she had sung but I am not as polite as some...

Good news Jackie, one step nearer! The longest time I've ever spent in hospital is 3.5 days and I couldn't wait to get home - the nurses were lovely but I was so tired (there always seems to be some noise around whatever time of day it is) and hungry too. It's 6 pm so I'm hoping you're there now and not still waiting to be moved. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.7

Dementia probably. Mum has just come out from a 4 week hospital stay. Her dementia is advanced and, in a ward of 6 ladies, at times, 3 patients were struggling with the same cognitive decline. It is tough to share space with others when unwell and trying to recover. On mum’s ward, the loudest patient sadly died. Myself, I found patients using their phones on loudspeaker annoying. Sadly my mum is past singing, got to appreciate that poor lady still having the want to sing.Hope your transfer has gone smoothly.9

Good morning chums a quick update I am at the small cottage hospital in Sittingbourne and its really good I eventually got here on Saturday afternoon, and was bed bound for a couple of days until Monday when a very lovely rehab physio team came and assessed me.
Since then I have had physio daily and its definitely working as this morning I managed to get to the ward door with a frame and back again a distance of about 10 metres. So I'm like a dog with two tails this morning
So I'm one very happy old biddy this morning, hopefully to see the light at the end of the tunnel at long last. I shall be glad to see the back this year that's for sure.
Staff are really nice and very helpful, and I have a nice bed by the window, and overlook a courtyard so get to keep and eye on the comings and goings .
There is another nice lady opposite me in the ward called Phyliss who is a Stockport lass and very friendly and who is bright as a butt,on even though she's almost 90 and we enjoy a good chinwag, and as both of us knit, so in the afternoon its knit and natter over the coffee.
But I am looking forward to getting back to my own little house and normality once more. Tonight my eldest DD is coming and bringing me so paperbacks to read.
Tomorrow afternoon my eldest granddaughter is coming to see me with her youngest little girl Ida as she is only at nursery three days a week and quite enjoys coming to see her Granny in the hospital and she wanders around and chats to the other ladies in there. She is three going on 33bless her.
Onwards and upwards chums
