Well done on the continued decluttering and the reorganising. I find taking stuff out of a room makes it feel so much bigger!

Thanks debtfreeoneday and savingholmes.  I'm slowly but steadily getting there, and yes how does a room feel bigger with less in it - love it.  I'm hoping to sort out a new dressing table tomorrow - I'd like to use my laptop on it occasionally and the current one is too narrow.  Once that's installed most of the upstairs will be complete.  I can then move onto the craft room/office and the garage.  And then the plan is to stop spending !

When you have found the spending stop tap can you let me know where it is? Asking for a friend 🙃

Absolutely 🤣🤣🤣 as soon as I find it.  The dressing table/desk was too narrow to get my chair wheels under so I didn't spend on that - does that count?  But I was in the Swedish shop and purchased only 2 smallish items.  The hunt for a dressing table that can be used as a desk continues.  It needs to be 1m wide with a depth more than 50cm - I don't want drawers along the underneath but can be down one side as long as the chair can tuck in.  I'm pleased that I haven't purchased something not fit for purpose as I don't want the task of selling anymore stuff that's not quite right.

I know savingholmes I have definitely on occasions had that sinking feeling on buying something, realising that it will have to go back on fb or fleabay. Without a doubt I need to step up my selling things mojo and get this clutter out of here.

I've made a decision on a different desk for a dressing table from the swedish shop and it will house my laptop accessories as well as my make-up.  There's also a chair on wheels (only £35) to go with it as well as a mirror to purchase - but that may come from Dune1m.  I've never had a dressing table to sit at and do my makeup and hair before so this is going to be very practical but also a real novelty. (Here's hoping the image in my head works out in reality).

Then its onto the office/craft room.  I think when its done, and the office part is squished more to one side I am going to call it the 'studio'.  It could be a workroom but that sounds too worky - and I will be doing my art, crafts and sewing there.  I'm excited as I've decided what I want to buy from the swedish shop but I'm hesitating as I'm already spending quite a bit and have some big commitments coming up.  But I've set myself a deadline of mid-June/early July to get the structure in place so I'll need to make some decisions come pay day.  Very excited to have a lovely space to sit at and be creative - a bit like those p1nterest pics.

Also really pleased with the garden, three new plants in this week and they have made such a difference filling in a couple of gaps.  It helps that the blossom is out and a few flowers here and there.  I'm beginning to be able to envisage what it will look like in a few years.

It doesn't feel very money saving or mortgage free making, but its long overdue time to get these things sorted before focussing on the mortgage big time in the time leading up to SPA.

i think judicious investment in ‘quality of life’ purchases as we also OP is totally reasonable. We do have to ‘live’ as well as be fiscally responsible.

Totally agree. Garden plants can make such a difference. Love you calling your new place you are creating your studio. As you know I believe in investing in that area too.

Completely agree @KajiKita and @savingholmes - thanks for the positivity.  Yes, I like 'studio' too - one corner will hold my work desk but the end wall will have my kallax unit and a table for my sewing/art.  I'm looking forward to decorating that area.

I was reading an article about un-nesting its sort of the opposite of nesting - getting ready for the next phase in life once the children have left home.  It apparently helps de-stress, and I've got to say that having a lovely to space to sit and relax, enjoy or work in has a soothing effect for me - priceless.
