  • Feels like I haven't written anything for ages.  I've been busy but nothing much to report really.  Some family get togethers which have included travelling (v. exhausting), lots of work, and quite a bit of keeping fit.  Had a rest this weekend, so a more boring time than usual - but it was lovely and relaxing.  Feels like the time of the month when payday is beckoning.

Sad news about Wilko, reminded me of when Woolworths went.  Also so much rain today and floods being reported.  I've been trying hard to keep the positivity vibes going. Managed to tick 1.75 things off the to do list - think I have finally picked some fabric for the drapes  .

I’m waiting on payday too … Not because I am short, I just want to get all the money shuffles done! 😊
Where are the drapes for - I seem to have missed that.

  • Hi Kajikita, its the lull after the last pay day, but I have spent a lot this month on the get togethers - another reason I prefer to stay at home   The 'drapes' are me starting to finally purchase some colourful window dressings rather than the plain blinds we put up after moving in.  I really should be making my own, but this is the largest window and in the room we sit in the most so I've ordered via made to measure.  I purchased some fabric ages ago to make a roman blind for the kitchen, I just need Mr Shores to put a rail up for me (need to buy it first), and have decided on curtains upstairs so will have more choices to make for those soon.

I really enjoyed starting to dress this house with colour 😊 The last place we had we knew we planned to sell so it was all VERY neutral. Here I’m allowing myself to play with and enjoy more colour 😊

  • Colour literally brightens my day. I have very bright colours in my front room in the furnishings, curtains and pictures rather than the walls. Good luck with your plans.

  • Same here, very neutral last house.  We've started with a blank canvas here, but I'm gradually adding colour.  I'd like to have a neutral colour on most of the walls but am struggling to choose - they all either seem very much the same or when you put them on the walls seem dark.  Given up on matchpots, esp. the £5 ones for a while.

  • How is the sewing machine projects going?
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

  • Tips for saving money appreciated. Thank you so much.
  • I'm planning to turn my next house mostly white - with the occasional feature wall - as I have bright colours on my furnishings. Good luck with your redecorating plans.

Not going anywhere at the moment LaydWithAPlan, but I'm always planning 😆😆😆

To be fair I've really concentrated on my health and fitness, and then work has become really busy again.  We've also got an outside garden project on the go, which should be completed by October - and then there will be no more excuses for me to get on with sewing and painting and all those things I keep planning to do.  My sewing space has become cluttered so that needs to be tackled and sorted first - I've decided to have a move around but will need DH to help me so will take some planning.

Interesting savingholmes, I think once I get a bit of colour in the soft furnishings it will become clearer about paint on the walls.
