Resourcefulness: The budgeter's friend

Hello Sunday Savers,
Thanks for your comments. Yes, thanks, we did have a lovely day with our friends. They brought me some tulip bulbs, perennials & plums & really seemed to enjoy the roast dinner Mr F cooked.
Well, my ample behind has only just made meaningful contact with a chair as I've been busy with kitchen witchery today. Budget-friendly efforts:
*Not a no-spend day as Mr F succumbed to a big bag of Piper's crisps while our C**p has them on offer at £1.....but no other money has left our mitts.
*Garden pickings: 3kg pears, blackberries, grapes.
*Divvied up leftover roast pork from yesterday. Some of it chunked up & is in the slow cooker (a chilli for tonight) & the rest was added to l/o veg & gravy & frozen for next Man Stew opportunity. Froze l/o apple sauce as that can go with a future roast dinner.
*Baked bread.
*Made pear chutney.
*Made a blackberry & apple crumble base. Just need to make the topping later & that'll do us a few days.
Mr F has been busy reassembling the Man Cave/spare bedroom & from what I can tell, it seems to have involved some decluttering. He is a bit of a hoarder of films/geeky TV/muso stuff so any reduction is a small success as far as I'm concerned. Tbf, he says his aim is to re-do the room to make it less like a store room for music/AV & much more somewhere pleasant to go & sit so I'd take that as a big win too.
Mr F is currently giving the cats their Sunday licketty-lick treat & Ash is refusing to wait his turn so it's kicking off a bit 🙄. Soot turned up for treat time 3 hours ago so has had a long wait!
I think tomorrow may have to be BH 🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅 Day.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!6 -
How lovely to have friends visit. This weekend always seems like a step into Autumn and its definitely seemed cool enough here. Well after a second fall in a few weeks my right wrist and hand are in a splint think pasta and rice dishes are on the menu for the next few weeks out comes the slow cooker recipes 😅.

my cat is obsessed with lickety lick and used to end up with it all over his face when he started to slurp before the tube was completely squeezed. I have to lift the bowl up now to prevent the furry mess.

Lol, yes. Soot is incapable of eating one without getting it on his nose!
Morning Campers! More rain overnight by the looks of it. Have annoyingly woken up with a headache almost certainly from having my neck at a silly angle overnight. Paracetamol downed & Mr F is making me some coffee & toast.
Today will need to involve laundry & tomatoes. We're also going to chat through our diaries so we know what we're doing over the next couple of weeks, plus pull together a master meal plan for September. Mr F has a bit of annual leave booked so we will plan a couple of outings too. Not an exciting day but it won't involve sitting in BH traffic & will have that 'new start' feeling which I always love about September.
Have a good day, m'dears,
