I hope you are soon over the worst of it. Some comfort to be sought in being prepared though!

Hope you feel much improved very soon.
Emandess mini eggs were very nice last year, but who knows what products are like from year to year what with the constant chopping and changing of ingredients to save the company (not the consumer obvs) money

Did we go to the same school. I too had a maths teacher that told me sarcasm was the lowest form of wit. I didn't agree then & don't now. I do carefully choose who to use against now althopugh I didn't back then.

My boss didn't use that phrase. He did write in my annual staff report that "it's not that Suffolk doesn't suffer fools gladly; she simply doesn't tolerate them at all!" - I have always been rather proud of it, but I am conscious that it intimidated many foolish colleagues

Hope all lurgies on their way out! @foxgloves and @badmemory, I agree that sarcasm is not the lowest form of wit. You have to read multiple levels in situations and come up with a short, biting and/or subtle response. I'm building a podium for you two and @Suffolk_lass. But even if it were, it's still wit - and that's in horribly short supply. Love Humdinger xx

Lol, the same maths teacher also said this: The class had suddenly (& unusually) gone completely quiet, just as I said in ringing tones, "I think I'm going to shup up now cos I can't talk & work at the same time", to which the teacher said, "THAT, Foxgloves, is the most sensible thing I've heard you say all day".
Morning all & thanks for all your comments. I am still chock full of cold & feeling really fed up with myself. I don't really do lie-ins as get bored, but Mr F brought me a coffee before he set off for work & suggested I stay put with being poorly, so I did, & finished reading my book - the 3rd one in the 'Department Q' Scandi-crime series which I thought was good for what is now quite a crowded genre. Shall add the next one to my library wish-list.
I don't wish to overburden you with tales of snot levels, but let's just say I have got to the 'nose feeling like a raw steak' stage, am headachy & am thoroughly fed-up with the stupid amount of sneezing. I am being sensible & resting. Still hoping I will feel well enough for our planned trip to get our car valued tomorrow morning, plus a good look at the 2 models on the top of our shortlist. While plenty of specifications can be found online, there is no substitute for actually visiting to examine cars in person imo. Mr F seems pretty sure we will get the price for our car as listed online. I am not so sure but will make it clear that getting a strong trade-in price could well be the difference between placing an order or decamping to a rival dealership over the road. I read recently that car sales aren't great atm, so hopefully this might put us in a good position, idk. There is certainly a good offer on, & it's also likely to be a good time for pre-reg vehicles being available, which is why we want to go & take good look in person. If I turn up looking like I do today, they might bung another £1k on our part-ex value just to get rid of me, lol, as I do currently rather have the appearance of someone who has just crawled out of a plague pit.
Apart from a couple of surveys, eating leftover sausage hotpot I made yesterday with rice tonight & checking how much to the absolute nearest £ is in our Car Fund, I shan't be doing anything else in the budget-friendly line today…..well, apart from very much having a no-spend day, of course. Thought I might polish up some new piano pieces, but my eyes keep streaming so I don't think I'll be able to see the music properly. Oh what a sad sack I am today. Maybe it will peak later & I will start to pick up [she said hopefully]
Hope everyone else is having a pleasantly productive day.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!9 -
