@KajiKita - He has indeed been a monkey! I can't believe how much growth the carrots have put on in just a week - must be the rain, I suppose - a week ago, I was pulling a few little tiny ones just to see how they were doing & now they are 3 times the size! Have sowed some maincrop ones in the new big raised bed too, so that we should have some for Autumn.

The business of rent v mortgage hasn't changed. When I took out my first mortgage 56 years ago just before interest rates went soaring up to 17% the mortgage was higher than the rent on a local flat, within 3 years despite the soaring interest rates the rent on the flat was higher than the mortgage. The more things change the more they stay the same - sounds better in french.7

So pleased to hear about Soot. I've been checking for updates.
Two years ago His Cattiness went off his food and then got weaker so he didn't want to eat. I resorted to wrapping him in a towel and spooning warm chicken broth into him. Which did the trick as well as a trip to the vet.
Glad you didn't lose any money as well“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Thanks all. Yes, Soot does seem to be back to normal but if it happens again, we will book him in for blood tests. Today he wanted me to hide his afternoon treats because he likes finding them.

Glad to hear Soot is making up for lost meals. Please dont get me started on housing. The whole industry needs major reform.6

The cost of housing whether renting or buying is so expensive. £2800 a month for a 3 bed semi round here. Over £650,000 to buy a basic, not modernised or extended semi on a fairly busy road.So pleased to hear that Soot is back on form. Pets are such a worry aren't they?5

Good Evening Peeps,
it is pouring down here but I'm a bit happy so it can continue to fill the water butts that have a double job to do. We use this water to flush the loo and water the garden. We are in a bungalow so not carrying a bucket up any stairs. Each time we got our water bill I would be in competition with trying to keep it as low a cost as possible. This evening whilst at a friends we got talking about the water bill. Her bill is nearly £1000a widow living on her own. (Her DH passed away just 2 years ago and it was he who did all the bills all their married life. She has never looked at the account where the money goes from.) I said a meter would be a lot cheaper. She rang the company and was advised that she would be saving over £500 a year by using a meter and has 2 years to try it out with an option of a further 2 years if needed. Looks like we have more work to do to stop the leak of £s from her bank account in the meantime.
I said to DH I won't be moaning about ours being £250pa again and those buckets will continue being dragged in the house
Hope that the poorly pets soon recover.
