Great news about the car. It happened to me a few years ago, so can understand it is awful waiting for result.I could not resist this little knitted toy kit from the charity shop, only £2 and quick knit. I’m sure my friend’s little boy will love it, along with a little cardigan for him.14

Thanks all -Yes, we do feel more positive about the car - just knowing that there is now someone working on it instead of all the waiting feels like an improvement. The sheer waste of it being written off because of the physical damage to the rear when everything else was fine was really getting to me from a sustainability point of view. We were both sure that this was where we were going to end up & it was really getting to me that I am doing all these little environmentally sustainable recycling of various bits & bobs while a perfectly good, pretty new vehicle apart from the damage done by someone who was clearly not looking at the road, just jarred terribly with my utter dislike of waste.
@marionmgcars - Lovely neat knitting! I do enjoy a bit of cable knitting. Can remember when I first taught myself how to do it aged about 18 & it felt like magic seeing it appear!

Afternoon Campers!
Good job we're NOT camping, as I think we would be fetching our tent back from about 3 fields away! How come I didn't know these gales were returning? It was rainy this morning, apart from a brief sunny spell, but from lunchtime, the wind has got steadily stronger & I am now feeling really chilly. We turned our heating down to 18 deg during daytime at the weekend & since then it has barely come on.....nice to see those lower figures on the smart monitor, that's for sure. However, I have just popped it back up to 18.5 to warm the house up as the strong winds are causing a lot of draughts & I think I might have to find my fingerless gloves in a minute.
These posts would be shorter, would they not, if I didn't start each one with a general ramble? Onto today's small budget helping positives:
*Sorted yesterday's line-dried laundry & was pleased to find that only a few items required the iron, so not much electricity used there.
*Harvested a bundle of rhubarb & the rest of last year's chard. Barely more than a 5 minute job but was so soaked when I got back indoors, I have had to hang up my coat to dry. The rhubarb is absolutely lush at the moment, so fresh & juicy so am trying to use more of it while it is at peak.
*Made rhubarb & date chutney. Just cooling on the dresser. The lids keep popping & making me jump!
*Made pesto with the chard. Was surprised to get enough for 5 pots, which will do 2 portions each, so 5 'free' future meals.
*Made another batch of the vegetably tomato pasta sauce (from the Organic Cafe book) as the basis of tonight's pasta bake plus a container for the freezer. Will also add a pot of chopped spare peppers which I froze last time I had a surplus & the last of the slow cooked ham hock from Sunday.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & porridge pot.
*Did a few surveys. I am only 20p away from cash-out on YouGov.
*Knitted a bit more cardi during my lunch hour.
*Will get bubble wrap out again for overnight protection of greenhouse veggie babies as this crazy wind will be making it draughty in there. At least I haven't flashed everyone in the garden centre this morning, which is an improvement on Sunday morning's gales.
Well, I think that is my lot today. I did think I might fit in getting my spring/summer clothes bag out this afternoon & sorting winter stuff away, but I think feeling so chilly has psychologically shunted that task until tomorrow, so will aim to do it then & also spend some greenhouse time potting up more seedlings.
Stay cosy, m'dears. Even the parcel delivery van man volunteered the information that he wished he'd worn his thermals today!

I've had my fingerless wrist warmers out today as well, and even had my knitted leg warmers on the bottom of my legs over my leggings. No one to see me when DH is at work so keeping warm is more important than glamourous looks...lol.Making the debt go down and savings go up

The weather is indeed awful. Good news that Flasher Foxgloves isn't at large in the garden centre today 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)9

Your kitchen wizardry sounds wonderful. Made me think of making chutneys 👍. I am definitely feeling the chill too, just finished chatting to my financial advisor so my brain is mush, however I understand the paperwork I have been sent. It would be so easy just to sign things without understanding then, so pleased that I stuck with it. Now for a nice treat of a hot bath to warm me up as my reward. X7

And several of the local postmen were still in their shorts. Still I suppose legs dry quicker than trousers. But I was really cold & really didn't need the hail.
