Well I live north of Manchester & definitely know about gannets. In my teen years that was pretty much my name. So not a Midlands thing.

My OH uses the expression all the time & he was born in London & spent more than 2/3 of his life in Essex. I remember vividly asking him 'what's a gannet?' the first time I heard it 20ish years ago...now it's become part of my vocab too!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! My bil uses gannet and he is coastal Hampshire born and bred as was his Dad. His Mum was a Londoner. Make of that what you will.8

Gannet terminology in use here in Herts too.
@foxgloves, loving ‘movingstuffitis’ - will have to share this with my sister as she’s suffered all her life from it! Was a frequent re-organiser of her bedroom growing up!

Lol, well I definitely had 'Movingstuffitis' yesterday, & sometimes I have 'Doingstuffitis' where I get carried away with acitivities!
Hello Monday Money Savers,
Usual rather humdrum Monday here at Foxgloves Manor. We did stick to our decision not to go out, so we haven't spent anything. In fact, I shall start today's small budget-positives with that:
*No-spend day.
*Did laundry for the week, one load was a 30 mins at 30 deg, which of course cuts energy use a little, & I have pegged everything out. Cold....in fact a big frost this morning, garden completely white, but it is sunny & there is a bit of breeze on (she said hopefully....)
*Sourdough sitting in its basket ready for baking later.
*Baked a semolina cake - a favourite here. Very simple - can't beat a slice still warm from the oven with a light dusting of icing sugar snow. Enjoyed a slice with our coffee - the rest will provide desserts for Tues & Weds.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & porridge pot. Defrosted something microwaveable as a quick (& free) win.
*Did a YouGov survey & earned a very few points being chucked out of Ips*s surveys. Not a lot going on in surveyland today, but tbf, I only do a very few sites.
*Stripped the meat off the chicken thighs leftover from last night's meal. Divvied up to make spicy chicken rice tonight & fajhita chicken-topped pizza tomorrow. Also enough left for a lunchtime sarnie for Mr F's lunch.
Just waiting for the Grimsby fish man to arrive now, with our 2nd fish box of the year. I shall need to get it portioned up & into containers for freezing. So much room in there at the moment thanks to our use-it-up meal plans prior to defrosting that they don't look like our freezers! I think I will actually bake a couple of extra loaves to freeze as they do run more efficiently when full & it's always useful having back-up bread.
I haven't done my usual Monday morning budget updates. Have deferred that & a couple of other financial admin tasks until tomorrow.

Going back to the cat litter, I buy a 30 litre bag from from Amazon for £19.99. Nowhere seems to sell it here and I definitely couldn’t carry it home .Gannet is also used here in Devon where I am 😀Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1206

Also forgot to say don’t ever be tempted to plant the bay tree in the garden like I did because mines now the same size as my house 😳it also get berries that look like olives but they are definitely not olives and apparently used to be used to get high, they are poisonous so quite a risky behaviour I think 😀Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1206

Hi @Onebrokelady,
No, I wouldn't do that - I need to keep our bay in a pot so it can be moved to a more sheltered place for its winter quarters. I lost a lovely healthy one during a longer than usual cold snap one winter, although tbf, I am a good bit further north than you & I suspect our garden may also be a bit of a frost pocket.
