Hi, just had an expensive day as I’ve changed my car. All budgeted for, but there is always hidden extra costs that I paid. But it’s a smaller car so should save money every month in petrol. Sometimes I spend more on petrol than food, so it was time to downsize. Making marmalade sounds like something I would enjoy. Do you recommend any particular recipe. ? I’m busy knitting socks from leftover wool, I think I might keep this pair myself.6

I hope the drains get sorted quickly and cheaply.
still so cold here - garden a wintery white wonderland.I got my energy bill too and glanced at it, flinched, reassured myself that there was still some credit left and then closed it again. We decided yesterday that if we were putting the heating on earlier in this cold snap so we could relax in comfort that I'd send over a one off payment to the account. Not a big amount but almost treating it as a pay as you go relax in comfort payment. I hope it warms up soon though!8 -
Thanks foxgloves for the marmalade tips. Can't wait to try it5

Hello everyone, Thanks for all your comments, which as usual, I enjoyed reading.
@marionmgcars - Exciting about the car! Re marmalade, just make sure you use seville oranges for the best results. They're the proper traditional marmalade oranges & they're in season now....very short season, basically, blink & you miss it.
Useful day here on the whole. Today's small wins:
*Free fitness as went for a brisk walk around the village.
*Batch-cooked chicken chilli for the freezer.
*Thawed some useful leftovers for tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Did a couple of surveys.
*Made 1st batch of marmalade & prepped the fruit for batch 2, now soaking.
*Paid a couple of transactions off my CC - loyalty points are starting to build again.
I can't deny I'm really worried about what the drain company will find tomorrow when they arrive with their power jets & gear. I'm so hoping it's just a straightforward clog, but it's very unusual for us to have this problem - the last time was 20 years ago, so I am in full catastrophising mode, visualising destructive tree roots, collapsed pipework, you name it. In fact, I think I've been inwardly fretting about it so much that it's given me a headache. Ah well, hopefully we will find out tomorrow & I must concentrate on hoping that it will be solved.....actually it's the hope I can't stand! I'm much better when I have solid fact & a plan.
Right, I think I've had sufficient screen time today.

Whoever said ignorance is bliss? I can't picture anything worse. Knowledge is power is much more my thing. It never seems as bad to me when you absolutely know what you are facing, it is the maybes that always get me. Even when the knows are I know this is going to be a pain in the proverbial. That probably accounts for my refusal to see certain things that any reasonable person would.

Hope the drain situation isn't as bad as you fear.

I hope you get the drain cleared without any major work required. Hopefully just a build up of soil and leaves over the last 10 years. Decided to splash out and go back to my slimming club. Seems a lot of money, but I enjoy the classes and motivation always helps me loose some weight. One can but try 🤞6
