Thanks for your good wishes, everyone.
Yes, it is baffling that I still couldn't find the budget anomaly. I have been over October's budget in its entirety twice, with deeper delves into specific areas, but I couldn't see the cause. I'm actually wondering if it could even be something from the end of September, which didn't show up for a couple of weeks. I might look at that in my Money Book at some point if I can face revisiting it again.

Happy anniversary! Flowers, pizza, bottle of something nice and upcoming recital sound like a lovely celebration.
I'm enjoying the mystery of the extra money, as frustrating as it is for you! Did you get a refund for something long overdue? Was it a month where you paid less for a bill like council tax or energy but you'd budget-covered it not knowing the date it would be taken?

Oh yes, Happy Anniversary!
I have a 25p anomaly on one of the bank account trackers and it is driving me mad, so I have no doubt you are finding this more than a little irritating.
This morning I'm collecting pine cones in among my contribution to the churchyard clear up. I have some old beeswax I am going to melt and dip them in, then pop them in brown cupcake cases to make firelighters along with dried orange peel. They are suitable for glass-fronted wood-burners but not open fires, as the seeds burst, I believe. Almost free firelighters, I intend seeing if they sell when I do my table sale in December, and gifting if they don't. A few bags, just to see if they are popular this year I think. - The talk of broken candles prompted me to post this as candle stumps are a good alternative to beeswax, and the orange peel oil burns well (as do nut shells) and smells lovely. Not like the fossil fuel lighter thingsSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
