I used to put a wash in and out hair colour many moons ago but never liked the texture of my hair. So I’ve never bothered since…..I’m salt and pepper grey now and actually quite like it. Must have saved myself a fortune - I have a neighbour come over every 6-8 weeks and it’s £25 a time. I’m not convinced it’s particularly cheap as I use my own produce and electricity and clean up afterwards……it takes about half an hour 😏
I’ve been reading the book by the doc….Van Toulken about upf……makes interesting reading and was reading something at dds about getting 30 plant based products a week to keep the gut bacteria going…..definitely food for thought.January spends - £587.588 -
Hi @milann, I haven't read that book yet, but I have reserved it at the library. Yes, the 30 plants a week thing is also in the TRE diet book I have & the author suggests keeping a list to check that we are getting to our 30. Well, I started off my list feeling really very confident that I would hit 30 & more very easily, but it did take a little more thought that I'd anticipated. I found myself having to choose a different fruit with my lunch, for example, or add an additional vegetable to a salad or stir-fry to make sure I increased my total. Because we always cook from scratch, I did find that my intake of herb & spice plants was pretty good. I even counted my ginger tea, as I like to start each morning when I first get up with a couple of slices of root ginger in a mug of hot water.

Is the 30 plant foods different ones or can they be repeated during the week? For example can lettuce we counted s or 3 times a week or does that just count as one plant food for that week.

@joedenise - If it is the same sort of lettuce, then you would only count it once. However, if you had some green romaine lettuce & some lollo rosso & radicchio in the same week, that would count as 3 different plants. Similarly, green pepper & red pepper count as 2.

Thanks @foxgloves. Think I'll give it a go this week. The last time I did something similar I got to about 20 so looks like I'll have to try harder!5

To be honest that sounds a little bit precious to me. But if that is what floats your boat. I will stick to trying for well over my 5 a day.

Gosh I thought I was good managing five a day but here's badmemory with well over 5 a day and others attempting 30 different types of plant a week- I'll have to start nibbling at the house plants! Do the 30 plant types have to merit a portion each as per five a day?https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase/p1

Oh! Now i'm curious why they would do this?foxgloves said:@AnotherNewDay - Flour.4 -
@AnotherNewDay - Yes, so was I! Apparently, the flour-canner had purchased a lot of flour at a discount price & wanted to store it away from damp & flour weevils, so she 'dry-canned' it. Not something I can ever see myself doing, but there is a greater bottling heritage in America so it might not be as unusual over there. On some of the U.S canning groups which pop up now & again on my FB feed, there are people bottling mince, potatoes, meat stews......I'm happy just to stick to tomatoes, although I maybe would do pears again at some point, idk.
