Love reading your updates foxgloves. You do so many of the things that I want to be doing, and somehow never quite end up getting round to 😂7

@Cheery_Daff - I do? Yet I spend so much of my time inwardly berating myself for not getting much done!

Sounds like we are having similar weather. I feel sorry for the tourists who come to Southern California for the sunshine and warmth - we haven't had any of either. I finally turned off the heat and told everyone to just wear sweaters in the house. Very strange weather.8

Hah! The sun must have heard me - it finally came out today. Had cataract surgery yesterday - surprised at the colors already being so much brighter. Still have the other eye to do next week. But I discovered there were yellow flowers among the pink and orange ones on the top I was wearing - never seen them before.10

Thanks for all your comments, everyone, & I'm glad you are seeing the world anew post-cataract surgery, @weenancyinAmerica.
Saturday Greetings all,
A decent day today, starting with yummy cheese scones & coffee for breakfast at our favourite garden centre (Personal Spends, of course!) Some decent little wins today, I think:
*Got a bogof on new gardening gloves for Mr F & a reduced price pack of 3 pairs for me.
*Picked up a bag of free coffee grounds from garden centre cafe for top dressing witch hazel, as it likes things on the acidic side.
*Made a batch of garlic flatbreads to use up some rather elderly yoghurt.
*Planted out my young basil plants - sufficient for a large pot, a row in front of the greenhouse tomatoes & I've planted the remaining ones around the edge of the huge tub in which I have the grapevine.
*Netted ripening 🍓🍓.
*Removed dead shrubby thing from pot & replaced with a nice overwintered geranium.
*Suggested to Mr F that as our grocery budget is not standing up as well as it might to June's '5-week month' situation, that we do a meal plan for right up to the end of the month. He was all for cracking on with it there & then. We will need a large chicken & some mince, plus have allowed 2 blank days for BBQ possibilities, but apart from that, every meal can be sourced from our freezer & pantry. We will need to buy fresh stuff, of course, but it was interesting to see just how far our stores would stretch. I haven't assigned meals to particular days, but will select from the list each week & cross off as I go.
*Tonight's meal will be some of the surplus garlic butter chicken, etc, which was frozen as not required for last weekend's BBQ, with home made jacket wedges & salad.
Laid-back evening of TV planned & I'll also be knitting that free stash-busting pair of socks.
We have planned some garden teamwork for tomorrow. I am also hoping to get a couple of loads of laundry washed & pegged out to make use of this breezy sunshine.
Wishing everyone a pleasant evening,
F x

Weenancy - You reminded me of my late Mother. After she had cataract surgery she discovered her house was decorated in completely different colours. Everything was so bright. All the clothes that she had that she thought were grey were actually bright blue.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -

Thank you everyone. I still going about amazed at the colors. The fun part today though was presenting a PowerPoint program when both eyes aren't working together! Fortunately I had printed the slides out 4 to a page and I could read that as we were going along. Looking forward to having eyes that coordinate again.
@foxgloves - love hearing about what you are doing in the garden.6
