Thanks, @Makingabobor2, that's kind of you, but I'm one of those people for whom massage doesn't appeal at all. I am truly hoping that the non-bendy BH weekend that Mr F is imposing on me will do the trick (tough love in our house!). I think the single days of resting I've given it just haven't been enough.
Off for a stroll down the garden now to see what the tomatoes are doing. Then the complicated knitting might come out.

Its funny how some people don't like massage. I am a great believer in all holistic and alternative treatments. Its medicine I don't like. Keep resting and using that hot water bottle. xMaking the debt go down and savings go up

Ouch to the back still being poorly Foxgloves - I honestly think it's the worst area of the body to deal with when there is an issue as your back is just so integral to everything isn't it - and it's pretty much impossible to avoid using it without thinking!
I'm glad you've had your referral back to Gynae as well - hopefully you'll see some progress there too before too long. Do you think the back might be partly to do with having been holding yourself awkwardly where you're been in discomfort from that side of things?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

@EssexHebridean - There's an element of that, certainly but the muscle spasms are, I'm sure from all the gardening. We have quite a big garden & I still throw myself around in it as though I'm still in my 30s. It's defo better on non-bendy rest days. My clinic appointment has now been brought forward a week as I gather there are so many women like myself who need seeing fairly urgently, that the hospital has put another clinic on. Scary prospect, but as with all these things, better to know & to get the metaphorical ball rolling.
Re backs & bending, I haven't done any garden tasks at all today, but have come to see how much bending there is in everyday indoor jobs. Putting the milk bottles out, lifting cat biscuit sack, putting bread in the oven, getting stuff out of the fridge.....I'm really having to think before I move

Re a therapist, it might be worth talking to a physio - the one I saw recently did a small amount of massage but then used ultrasound and taped me up. The tape really helped, despite me being somewhat cynical about it. With prior discussion you might find that they are willing to treat you in a more hands off way? (That said I’ma huge fan of a qualified therapy massage (as opposed to a spa-type massage))Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks, @themadvix. I suspect that my back will fade into insignificance with the rest of what's likely to be going on. I have been much more careful when bending today (& that was only essential bending), making sure I bend my knees & also not lifting anything heavy or slouching.
I read somewhere recently that lower back.pain cases are on the rise & that a key factor is these big pillowy squishy sofas which might be lovely for watching tv, but in which it is virtually impossible to sit upright with good back support.
Also, I have a Big Birthday next year & need to realise that while I might have been 38 when we bought this house, I am most definitely not 38 now! Mr F said the other day that I need to stop throwing myself into tasks with such gusto, to acknowledge I'm that bit older & take things more gently.

I hope you can get comfortable tonight and get a good night's sleep. Soot and Ash will be poised and ready to beg for early breakfast if you need to get up.6

I hope that you feel better soon. I know that you have other stuff going on but if this persists then an xray of your back may be a good idea. I have sciatica because my spine curves slightly from left to right as well as from back to front. I have exercises (via physio) that help and they vary according to which bit is sore.
I can only imagine how delighted that cat team were to see you in the middle of the night 😄5 -
I wouldn't fancy a massage either, but I have found physio exercises very useful to help with aches and pains.

In contrast, I like to have my shoulder or back loosened by manipulation (not big sweeping stroking-type stuff, more thumb or heel of the hand working out the knotted tension that builds up). My go-to person is my Son. I taught him when he was a young teenager, by demonstrating on his father (DH) and by doing it to son when his shoulders seized up as a musician, carrying gear, and a field hockey goalkeeper, with the biggest bag in the world. He knows it works, and he has the touch and the anatomical insights I was able to explain (I did my degree in Sports Science). For me, there is nothing better than ten minutes of focussed manipulation to nip a spasm before it gets going (I shattered a vertebrae in a fall, nearly twenty years ago and am still armed with high powered meds to resolve it, when it has an episode, which it does, periodically.
