My parents and sister had no fear of storms but I have always had a fear of them. No idea why but at least I cant blame the family. I do remember standing at the window with dd telling her how pretty the lightning was etc while standing slightly behind her cringing with my eyes close. We looked across a valley at the time so had a great view if you like that sort of thing. It worked though as she isnt scared of storms. Fireworks now a different matter. She has always hated them.I am glad to say we rarely get storms here but when they do arrive they tend to rettle around for ages and tend to return a couple of times.6

I think I was in the same whistlefish card shop enthusiast saver. I bought 2 packs a couple of weeks ago. I’ve also earmarked a picture for my bedroom which I’m going to order on line as it was too heavy to carry to the car. It’s a dog in a boat with houses behind and some yellow flowers in the foreground. I’ve been looking for a grey and yellow picture since I had my bedroom decorated over a year ago. I love whistle fish 👍January spends - £587.587

@Sunshine_girl2 - that's exactly what my parents told me about thunder. And lightening was God testing his light switches. Seemed fairly plausible to me 🤣7

That’s what I was told too…..God is spring cleaning and moving the furniture. However my mum still unplugged everything and kept me away from windows. A neighbour used to sit under a table. I do remember a chimney around the corner being struck and there was much excitement when a fire engine arrived.January spends - £587.587

My memories of storms, well I don't really have any. My parents & sister would sit in the kitchen drinking tea waiting it out. My sister would wake at the sound of a feather dropping in the next room. Me, I'd sleep through the lot. I may not sleep much anymore but I can still sleep through thunder & lightning with no problem. But the neighbour across the road who goes out to work at 5.30am & slams the front door is better than an alarm clock. Weird or what?

Our house was struck by lightning when I was a child. There was the most almighty bang and everyone just froze. Then the carpet set on fire via the TV aerial cable. I was terrified of thunderstorms for some time after that. I’m ok with them now thankfully.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10

Hello Diary Readers,
Haven't had the best couple of days tbh. On top of the issues I'm being scanned for next week, my naughty gallbladder decided to have a little bit of a kick-off last night, & to absolutely nail the tin lid on it, I have pulled some lower back muscles while gardening. This happens now & again, but yesterday the affected muscles went into spasm when I moved about 2cms & it was very painful.....I've never had that before. Dreadful night as simply couldn't get comfortable & eventually managed about 2.5 hours while sitting up. Sorry for such a tale of woe. I'm posting primarily to say that despite all this, I'm keeping the money saving faith. I've done a little bit of financial admin today, done the meal plans with Mr F first thing & written the grocery shopping list. We are basing Sun to Tues on roast chicken, but apart from that, everything is from the freezer & stores. Have defrosted 3 little pots of use-it-ups for tonight's couscous & will be having a scout around the fridge for salad stuff to finish off too.
I've watered the greenhouse & coldframe plants, but that is the only gardening today. I'd planned to de-gunk the pond & plant out several.more trays of plants, but I promised both Mr F & best friend that I'd have a self-care day instead.
And despite really not liking to sit around in the day, that is what I've done. Finished my book & chose another one from my reading pile & started watching a series on Netflicks. Have had a few gentle strolls up & down the garden between rain showers. I think both backs & ladies' pelvic conditions need to move. Sitting for long periods is uncomfortable.
I did have a lovely parcel arrive, which cheered me up. I recently read a piece about some or other study finding that people's plastic water bottles had more bacteria on them than dogs' drinking bowls! I also felt my plastic bottle wss sufficiently old that it might be leaching stuff, so I ordered myself a glass bottle with a bamboo lid. I spent ages choosing & it is really lovely. Mr F's view was that it's too nice to take out, but I shall do as have already binned off the old one. A treat from my personal spends & am already thinking that one of these would make a nice present for my sis & best friend.
Well, I must get back to boring resting, so will start my new book & give Soot a fuss (instead of an early dinner, which is the deal he's actually trying to secure).
Sorry to moan. Am just sick of feeling cr*ppy.
