When we had much less money I had a daily alarm set at 9pm and I would check my online bank account. If it was at a point that I would be in my overdraft I quickly deposited enough from my very small savings pot to get me out of being charged. Having a local branch back then I did pay in £5 worth of change to keep us out of the red. My bank has since closed in the town along with all but 1.
To this day I still check the bank most days, even though I am lucky enough at the moment to be anywhere near using the overdraftMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I had intended to write about no tinned tomatoes in my stores and ask the question how is that possible? I went shopping and did a small shop which included the above. This morning whilst moving other stuff stock to a cupboard I came across 6 tins stashed in the back
. They have now moved into a cupboard with other stores that don't quite fit in my little 1960's kitchen cupboards.
Online banking for me has been revolutionary in keeping on top of things - just like you @foxgloves.
I will now work on DH's little account and move that and make him some money too by moving. He can't keep up with me on this and he gets lost bless him, he very calmly follows my instructions to get the job done.
Have a good weekend all

Morning BH people....though I know plenty of folk will be working this weekend. We are planning to stay in & do a mixture of relaxing & sorting out a few jobs. We have no interest in royal events so it will be a usual BH for us, but with a news blackout until normality is restored. Weather forecast not looking good, but I'm hoping I might catch an hour or so between showers for a few garden jobs - even just planting out a couple of trays of calendula (free, from saved seed) would be useful.
Yesterday, Mr F helped me (with his caveman brute strength) to dig up an enormous clump of iris, chop it into two & replant both in a better place. Took the opportunity to move a few other things around nearby & feel we've managed a bit of a new look for free.
I also need to water the greenhouse & coldframe plants & check veggie seedling troughs. All of them now sprouting - both types of spring onion, rocket, carrots & radishes. Courgettes germinating well, but think I will sow a few back-up squash as germination so far looks patchy.
But for now, it's a cup of coffee & the final couple of chapters of my book.
Enjoy your day, whatever you are doing.

I too will be ignoring the royalty things whilst also being grateful for them due to the income which this country is in dire need of.

Afternoon m'dears,
Still managing to keep things 100% royalty-free here. It now won't be a no-spend day, however, as Mr F has proclaimed that one simply cannot have a bank holiday weekend without crisps & has headed for the shop!
Rain didn't begin till we got in from the garden. Mr F has mowed the lawn. He said he was doing no-mow May, but I reminded him he'd also done no-mow March & no-mow April so the grass was getting properly out of hand. We do have lots of flowers in our borders (which are a cottagey tangle) & in our wild area up behind the veggie plot, as well as oodles of poached egg plants, so the local pollinators will still be well catered for.
I had a much needed hack back of the strip of bed up the side of the greenhouse which was planted as a nectar bar......geranium macrorhizum utterly out of control now tidied up & added a tray of calendula & cerinthe (honeywort) which I grew from saved seed..Looks much better. The centaurea will soon add some blue, another hardy geranium some mauve & the woad is already showing off its bright yellow.
Also stood a few more trays (echium blue bedder) outside to harden off a little as will start planting those out next week.
Lots of ladybirds around, a shield bug, a brimstone & orange tip butterfly & assorted bees. Still lots of tadpoles, despite one of our local corvids love for sushi this year.
Intend a soak in the bath this afternoon - bagsy me first in the water, lol - then I have a charity bookshop book to start.
Rain really coming down now. The Crispfinder General still.not back, which makes me think he has extended his hunt to Waitbl00m or has decided BH crisps will be altogether too dry without BH beer.
Till next time,

I'm a late convert to savings pots and I'm now a big fan of them. Mine are all separate as I'd lose focus on the individual goals if they were all in one place. I've got a couple of longer term pots in n s and I and the smaller pots are in chase earning 3.1% interest. The interest from the entertainment pot which is for concerts, shows and subscriptions, the holiday pot and the Christmas pot will be going as a donation to the Salvation Army this year. They are the pots for things that we are lucky to be able to afford to do so it seems a nice way to show gratitude for that.
I always thought that "shopping from home" was copyright Foxgloves. I nearly missed an opportunity to avoid spending this week by buying a flowery tin to keep greetings cards in. Since @Sun_Addict introduced me to whistlefish I've been buying my cards and gift wrap from there and eyeing up the pretty card tins. Mr BC was bewildered by this and dug out a perfectly nice biscuit tin for me to use. It's not pretty and flowery but it does the job and the £8 can stay in my purse. It was a very lovely flowery tin though ......8 -
@Blackcats I hope I haven’t led you astray 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

@Sun_Addict - in a fair blame culture (work jargon) I'd have to say that I'm pretty good at leading myself astray and it was the flowery tin that nearly got me. I love the cards and paper from whistlefish - such good value and good quality.6
