Thanks, @Baileys_Babe - And I will feel much happier about serving up home baked treats. I love baking but am not doing very much at all at the moment with there being just the two of us & focusing on weight loss. I shall really enjoy making those scones tomorrow.

Ohhhh, & talking of weight loss, I forgot to mention on today's diary post that this morning was Weigh-Day & another 0.6kg had jumped off over the past week. That's a total of 7kg since 20th Feb when I braved the scales after a long time & a string of expletives issued forth! I'm confident I will now fit into the first of my 'Shopping from Home Boutique' garments, but as it's a linen tunic I think I'll need to see some warmer weather first, as I like to team it with footless tights & chunky sandals.

@Makingabobor2 & @ziggy2407 - Thank-you. It was definitely time to resume work on my weight. Before starting it at end of Feb, I bought 3 items of clothing, all of which I really like, but are already too big. I can still wear them atm, but to get my money's worth, I will have to get my sewing machine out & take them in at the sides. My Mum was really good at altering clothes. Her method was taking in the sides (easy), then she'd put a tuck in the back of the neck on each side of the label, then two further tucks one on each side of the front neckline. I'll try something similar. I do intend to continue with the weight loss, so this should ensure I can wear those garments for longer.

There's so much I want to do today, & what am I doing? Sitting on the sofa in my dressing gown drinking coffee with a cat on my lap! Today will be a no-spend day. I intend to start by sorting all yesterday's clean dry laundry, ironing, shoving the vacuum around downstairs & sorting some plants for swapping with my friend, then bird-feeders to fill & scones to bake.
I also need to straighten my hair, as frankly I look as though I should be zooming around on a broomstick with Soot on the back. I think that's quite enough to be getting on with.
Oh.....& although there's been no frost here overnight, the hall thermostat said 13.5° first thing..13.5°!! Indoors. At the end of April!! When will this chilly nonsense end?

On the sofa with a coffee and with a cat on your lap sounds like the perfect way to start the day. I don't even put the kettle on until the cat has had her morning strokes.7

ArggH!!! just saw the laptop delete my post...
Morning Peeps,
Mrs Foxgloves thanks for the unconscious prompt about curry I have just dived into the freezer and removed some diced lamb that I had spotted in there yesterday. This will be turned into a large pot by the end of the day along with adding a large amount of spinach and mushrooms that need to be UU. Will be cooked in the Dutch oven (cast aluminium pan) decided against the slow cooker as we have gas and it is cheaper than electric also it will generate a little heat whilst cooking on the lowest flame. There will be more than enough for meals to go into the freezer.

Sometimes sitting on the sofa is good. You have worked hard all your life, so relaxing sometimes is a treat well deserved. Cold here today and I am still in PJs while I am hoovering. Hoping to get in garden later, but think I may need a coat on. Had heat on for 1 hour this morning, hope its the last day we'll need it.Making the debt go down and savings go up

A small habit that we got into during Covid times was starting the day with a cup of tea or coffee in bed before getting up "properly" - we'd often done it at weekends prior to that, but weekday mornings used to be a far more hectic affair off the back of getting up later but then having to race around. I'm now quite happy with an alarm half an hour earlier and just having that first bit of time in the day to get my head in line for the day to come, and we have unhesitatingly continued doing it ever since.
