Thanks all, yes he's perking up.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!5 -
Oh joy! Only gone 6 miles of our 203 mile drive & Mr F has already yelled "You f*****g horse tw*t" at a thoughtless driver!
Lots of food & coffee on board though, so shan't be paying motorway services prices.

Hope you enjoy your holiday when you get there! We try to stay out of the motorway services unless it is one of the nicer Farm Shop type. In which case I might have a browse before returning to my flask and sandwiches. I am easily affected by less than perfect hygiene standards so definitely prefer home prepared fresh food. My grandmother always baked a cake to take too, usually a big fruit cake. I like to do the same if I have the time, although even a batch of flapjacks comes in very handy. Supplies will be useful if you need to hunker down during the oncoming weather!5

We love to use The Extra Mile book when we are travelling. Although we take our own coffee etc it lists places that are just off the main motorways, quite often farm shops or garden centres. Have visited some lovely places and its much nicer than the motorway services.

Can we have updates on Mr F's insults on the way back too please, these have really made me laugh, along with the thought of you sitting there in the car live-posting them 😂❤️https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase/p1

My OH was highly amused that he's not the only one who 'shouts' in the car! I once started carpooling to work with my neighbor - and he forgot I was in the car. I learned a few new insults before he realized I was there!5

If you take the turning after the A1 south (to the left of that big hotel) - the A6108 and then left fork at the roundabout - the A6055, staying parallel to the A1 there is a Shell garage with fuel approximately 10ppl cheaper than Scotch Corner.foxgloves said:Scotch Corner.....or "Rob-dog Corner" as Mr F is now calling it, having seen the price of the petrol!!
Too late for you this time but we will be using it on the way up tomorrow. We turn left there and go across the A66 to then go North again for a few night's stop at my Mum's before North again to our booked holiday cottage
