Morning Campers, rise & shine!
Just finishing my cup of ginger tea, then I intend to get cracking on today's tasks. I really fancy tucking up on the sofa with my book, so that's going to be the 'carrot'. I'm aiming to fly through everything else, then reward myself with some reading time.
I'm not planning to spend any money today & will hopefully be able to kick in a decent money saving list of activities later.
Right....I love an early start, so less yakk & more action!

Your ginger tea must be full of va va voom! You are full of energy today.
I agree wholeheartedly with you on the shrinkflation of the festive tub of sweets you refer to! What on earth has happened to the green triangle? I'm trying to find a polite way of complaining about the reduction in size of the formerly big purple one but I fear that however it's worded @PennysIntoPounds will find a way to lower the tone 😊5 -
I think your work here is done 😂💅 fnarBlackcats said:

@Blackcats - Well, the brand in question obviously believes that size isn't everything where Big Purple Ones are concerned because I had one in my Advent Calendar this morning (simmer down now, @PiP) & practically required an electron scanning microscope to see it! Yes, the triangles are also way smaller too. At least I get all the coconut toffees as Mr F can't stand them & they're my favourite. The BP one used to be my favourite but I have officially gone off it now, on the grounds that by 2026, it is likely to be the size of a midget gem.

Hello Tuesday Readers,
Usefully productive day. It wasn't a no-spend day in the end because I pinged Mr F & asked him to pick up a pepper & tin of sweetcorn & while he was there, he discovered he had a voucher for money off a packet of chocolate digestives. Never mind, I have been pretty productive & frugal on the whole:
*Turned out the Christmas cake I baked yesterday & wrapped it to keep it nice & moist for marzipanning day.
*Soaked some rather elderly chickpeas for using tomorrow.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & breakfast.
*Baked the sourdough loaf I made yesterday.
*Dealt with Sunday's roast chicken leftovers. It has already provided a roast dinner, cold chicken & piri-piri wdges with salad, & will be going into tonight's JP toppings (I am having chicken & sweetcorn mayo on mine & Mr F is making Man-Stew). There is also enough for a curry tomorrow & some soup. Everything else is in the slow cooker for stock, which I shall need to strain shortly.
*Heated airer rather over-laden again so have been moving garments around fairly frequently to hasten drying. It's nearly all done.
*Paid a few transactions off my credit card & paid the wheelie bin cleaner while I was in the zone for tackling financials.
*Did a couple of surveys.
*Wrote to two friends who always have a long letter enclosed with their Christmas card. Managed to stop the printer having a faffy melt-down for no good reason other than spite.
*Intending to make a rice pudding tonight to use up a surfeit of milk. This will also stretch opening a big yoghurt pot for another day - haven't the better quality yoghurts just rocketed in price since the pandemic? We don't buy as many as we used to - as Mr F said, if you go for favourite upmarket brands & they are £2.50 each, then 2 each is a tenner a week.....just for yoghurt! And yes, I know I could buy cheaper ones, but I don't like them as I think yoghurt is one of those foods which began as such a simple healthy product & has become in some cases, little more than runny UPF confectionary.
Well, because I so enjoyed writing those 2 long chatty letters to my friends, I haven't yet got around to that sofa session with my book, which I intended, but never mind, I am going to sort out the chicken stock, then it will defo be reading time. Mr F can be in charge of my jacket potato as well as his, as he's going to be busy constructing Man-Stew anyway.
Bye for now,
And remember as always that your money can't jump out of your purse on its own!

Hope you cope okay with the discounted chocolate digestives xxhttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase/p1

Ooh I love it when Mr F makes his epic man stew 😆
I’ve noticed most branded products have vastly increased in price. It’s quite shocking just how much some items are.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
I can't remember the last time I bought flavoured yoghurt as the price has shot past a point I'm willing to pay. Previously we often have a couple of large tubs a week.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Got fed up with the high prices of yoghurt so have now invested in a yoghurt maker. First batch made yesterday but instructions say to leave in the fridge for a few days to get a better set. Looking forward to trying it in a couple of days time. We generally only have natural yoghurt so may even chop up some fruit to add sometimes!7
