Would love to feed the birds but unfortunately we have started to attract rats. We do have those trays under eat feeder, but live pretty rural and surrounded by fields. Love the baking, wouldn’t last 5 mins with me.:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.007

Hi everyone, Thanks for your nice comments about my little savoury star biscuits. @Makingabobor2 - No talent required for those, I can assure you, just some leftover pastry, a biscuit cutter & a few flavours from store cupboard ingredients.
Well, Mr F came through the door last night & said, '"Oooh, something smells nice!". I said, '"Yes, I've got a tamale pie in the oven for our dinner". Later on, he went in the kitchen & I could hear him riffling through the freezer. I asked him what he was up to & he said he was looking for some bacon which needed to come out to defrost ready for today. He found the bacon shortly afterwards, but not my star biscuits. Yay! They have thus gone undiscovered for one entire day!! The weekend is yet young, however.....

And now for today's post. Defo not a No-Spend day, as I'd got a list for town, but still some money saving wins:
*Decided again that we'd park for free on the supermarket car park & do our errands speedily.
*Our market butcher had an XL chicken for £12. The next size down was £8. I knew I could get all our planned meals plus stock from the smaller one, so initially went for that, but then I thought how for an extra £4 I'd be able to get some sandwiches & a decent amount of chicken soup, which seemed very much worth £4 so we swapped.
*Decided not to spend my H&B voucher which expires tomorrow. Voucher was £1.40 & I'd intended to use it for money off a herbal supplement I like to take if our little indie health shop hadn't been able to order any for me. However they had, & I was halfway to H&B before I realised there just isn't anything else I need for there atm. Yes, I could have bought a bag of nuts, or dried fruits or toiletries, vitamins, & a plethora of other items, but I didn't NEED anything, so I reasoned that I would therefore be spending money unnecessarily in order to save £1.40. It didn't make sense.
*Called at Waitbl00m to pick up a small amount of items on our list, including 1 for which we had a voucher for £1 off. Also bought next week's bag of coffee as their lovely Christmas one is currently priced at £2.50 which is very good. Although we haven't yet written our festive food list, we picked up a bag of amaretti biscuits which will defo be on the list, as there was a decent loyalty card holder's price on those. Then Mr F started waving his phone under my nose as he'd spotted on the app that we could have a free packet of cinnamon knots. Ooooh, 'free'! We like that word. There were none on the biscuit shelf so off he went on one about well-heeled gannets coming in & denuding the shelves before deciding to go & look on the seasonal aisle, where he fond some more. Very nice festive biscuits. Had one with my afternoon coffee. Do have a look if you have the loyalty app. Oh, & as we had our beakers with us, we both had a free coffee, which was still hot by the time we got home so saved us firing up our own coffee machine.
*£10-98 Christmas bonus received onto our C**p cashback card. I must see what's already on there as it usually stands us a couple of bottles of wine & some cava.
*Entered 2 competitions.
*Did some surveys. If everyone pays me before I cash out tomorrow morning, I will have hit my PA monthly earnings target as have £42-26.
Oh & the cheek of the the well-known brand from whence I tried to buy that couple of outstanding presents.....the one where the website had an issue & I wasn't able to access the payment screen. Well, I submitted 2 email complaints & one via their FB page. Both have been ignored, so I sourced the same items from a different company. Then this morning, what should ping into my inbox but an email from the well-known brand suggesting I might like to buy something from them on a Black Friday deal! I'll give them 'Black Friday'.......they couldn't allow me to pay for anything, haven't replied to my perfectly reasonable complaints, yet have still scraped my email address from the complaint form to use for advertising!! Well, they can *%$* right off with their poor service & downright cheek!!
OK, I just need to look up a couple of book titles, then it's time to close the curtains (dark already) & do some knitting. Looking forward to watching 'Shetland' & some more 'Vikings' tonight.
Love F x

The chicken sounds like a good deal. Its amazing how much you can do with 1 good sized chicken. Our local butcher does some lovely ones. A bit dearer than a supermarket, but much higher quality.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Ooh that is a cheek! Definitely on the naughty stair/block list.
Love Mr F's biscuithound nose knowing there's something but having to take your word that it was the tamale pie (which I'm sure also smelt delicious)
Excellent reasoning and restraint on the H&B voucher. I never cease to be surprised by the mental gymnastics I can do to try to make an offer work then once it finally dawns that 'you are spending money you weren't otherwise going to spend' brain is so proud, so wise 😁8 -
Ah 'Wishrithmetic'...found in close proximity to The Magic Money Tree. Classic companion planting really. Star biscuits; how I wish I could have them. Do love cheese straws, especially those gigantic ones about the size of a cricket bat. Love Humdinger xx7
