8/14 for Thu 26th please Cathybird.
If you feel a new thread for the new year is more welcoming that's fine by me. Is there a page or post limit these days as I think that used to be the main reason we went up a year most times it happened? Thank you as ever for the counting up and best use of creative emojis!4 -

A year long digital detox sounds amazing - and ambitious leftatthetrafficlights. Good luck!
Not ramped up many AF days lately, I knew I needed to allow alcohol over Christmas with my brother in law staying for 3 days. Unfortunately his son who is now 18 is turning into his mini me and was just as painful in his racism and opinionated views! I have had to get some distance as much as possible. I keep telling myself that it's worth it to stay close to my sister, but sometimes I wonder......
But the good thing was that I got back into not drinking again last night and have cut down the food again. I had lost nearly 10lbs in 4 weeks on the lead up to Christmas. I am not going near the scales again until my Christmas relapse is the ghost of Christmas past!
19 AF days please Cathybird.4 -
Still on 10/10 but I am counting this as a huge win as I'm drinking less. Yes I have drunk every day - but - some days it has been a small bottle of larger and others a couple of glasses (only) of wine.
A far cry from the woman to joined in. I would like to drink even less but there is an angel sitting on my shoulder that says look how far you have come rather than my negative self talk of look how far there is to go.
Thank you @cathybird for the thread and coming to find me when I went off into the wilderness and encouraging me to come back and then to everyone who encouraged me to try again. Thank youMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
I had a way-too-boozy Christmas day, but just a 1-glass Boxing day. Calling early for today, to reach target of 20/20.
I think a new thread would be inspirational for wanna-be's?
I have to say, this is always a most encouraging thread - I don't remember ever seeing any negative posts except possibly our own self-flagellation!What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?4 -
Another one calling early today for 9/14 please Cathybird.
Leftatthetrafficlights, sorry to hear you will be taking a break although the idea of a digital detox sounds great - have a good 2025!
Satchmo, it has always been a very warm and friendly place on here. I recall some early heated discussions between the cutter-outers and the cutter-downers but since then there has always been support and encouragement. Some posts have been hard to read over the years, but that is a whole different thing.4 -
I’m not sure of my December target @cathybird, but to be fair it wasn’t about a target but about being more mindful about my drinking. Just had one day when I over indulged, but back on track now,
So my target for January is 25 please.
I’m new to the thread, so will go with the flow, just greatful for the thread and support.Thank you x5 -
18/12 today please Cathybird. Can you put me down for 20 for January. I don't think it matters if there is a new thread or not to those of us who use it but maybe a new thread would encourage newbies. The more people that can be reached the better as this thread has been a godsend for so many of us.3

22/24 AFs for me today please, Cathybird.
I would like to aim for 257 AFs in 2025 and 25 in January.
Thank you!4 -
@Justcrackingonwithit you can always opt for a non-target month and see how many you achieve - then either use that as the target for the following month, or maybe add an extra day (or more) for your target for the month after that? What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?4
