Great stuff! How has it made a difference? I've found I sleep like a block of stone these days! Oh and 23 please.Season_of_Mist said:Great to see you back, shaggydoo!
Today is exactly four months since I last had anything alcoholic to drink.
The thing is, since joining this awesome thread in 2018 and deciding to really make a go of it, my drinking in general has tailed off pretty steeply anyway. What I added was long stretches of no drinking at all (3 months in 2018 then typically 6 month dry stretches starting from 2019 onwards ), but outside of those dry spells, it wasn’t like I felt any urge to knock it back, quite the opposite, my drinking levels generally declined anyway, even outside of the long AF periods. So it wasn’t like there was a sudden ‘cliff edge’ where I go from drinking a lot to nothing, overnight.
The long dry spells do really help to break any sense of ritual (“Well it’s Friday evening and the end of a long week so I must have a drink even if I don’t feel like it because…it’s a Friday”), and forgive me, I know I have said this before, but it has made me realise that not drinking can become a habit too.Like you, I do sleep much better and generally have more energy. One big thing I’ve noticed and to keep things MSE related, since March we have had to really tighten our belts at home due to a change in OH’s circumstances and I tell you what, not sticking bottles of booze in the trolley at the supermarkets doesn’t half make a difference to the grocery bill.
Alcohol has become very expensive!5 -

I have (amazingly) managed to add another two days, not the 21st, but the 22nd and 23rd were both AFDs because I had pretty bad jet lag and did not feel like drinking at all. So I've reached target! Yay
