I applied for a Tesco Credit Card, but did not provide ID. Should this be on my credit report?

The ID check will come after the credit check so will be on your credit search history.

Basically you’ve failed authentication and they can’t match you so need proof you are who you say you are. On the positive side it does mean you’ve passed the credit check as they normally only ask for ID if you’ve passed that phase. If you had sent ID in you would should have been given a credit card.
Grrrrr, that pains me to know.

When I applied for a credit card all they wanted was my landline number and that was it they phoned the landline and I answered a few simple questions and got approved within minutes.
Someone please tell me what money is

really tho one credit check isnt a problem.

you are worried a new lender will see it and think you were rejected. but that could be because your credit was bad. or you didn't meet the specific criteria (which is differnt for differnt lenders) or you made a mistake on the application. or you were approved but didn't like the rate you were offered (which isnt always the rate you apply for). lots of reasons why you might have a check but no open account on your file.

its three or four in a short period that would worry a lender as thats coming across as desperate.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Do you think I could leave a note on my credit report to explain what happened with the application?  That might be handy for prospective lenders to know. I want my report squeaky clean just in case I need more credit in future.

In retrospect, I had a lot of trouble getting onto the electoral roll -- that was probably why they made it such a hassle.  I applied to get on the roll in August and still wasn't on there in November.  Surprisingly, when I moved they then put me on the roll straight away.

i think a note explaining something would be worse than just leaving it be.

like i said. one check means nothing. most people will have a check at some time from a quote or something that they decided not to take out.

a note or correction on your file is something 'abnormal'. basically waves a flag saying something differnt happened here you should look at. it will mean the auto checks are more likly needed to be double checked by a human. that increases your risk of rejection and is a bad idea in my opinion.
