New year cleaning and declutter.

I’ve decided to have a ruthless clear out with my new year clean this year. Anything I haven’t touched in a year is gone.
Recycle centre and council charity shop slots booked for Tuesday and I’m determined to get rid of at least a car load.
Anyone else having a good deep clean and declutter ready for 2023?
I’m thinking of trying kon Marie but I am wondering if it’s really any good/ useful.
Hope you are all ready for a fab new year.

What is Kon Marie please? Yes in December/January I have a good look through my belongings and remove any I have not used or plan to use. December is so I can give to charity shop and they can make presents for Christmas and January is more generalkimplus8 said:I’ve decided to have a ruthless clear out with my new year clean this year. @Auti kon Marie is a method ofdecluttering. It goes per category rather than by room.

Have you seen the decluttering thread in old style? Around throughout 2022 so pretty likely there will be one for this year as well. Helped me to get sorted in the first part of the year when I needed a bit of cheerleading behind me.
ETA - here you go.

Well I'd like to with the furniture I've been stepping around since the move.Told no one is buying furniture at the mo, charity it's not perfect, too big for someone who does furniture painting, so maybe chopping up a mahogony pedestal table, a small oak one etc.So any encouragement is welcome as I'm already teeeed off.Started on the photos, anyone I haven't seen for decades in the bin and some more recent in a small album. I was quite proud of myself for that but it's small fry so far.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I’ve now got 3 no bags of clothes for the clothing bin, a basket of bric a brac and another bin liner for the tip. I’ve also just sorted the kitchen cupboards and have a carrier bag of things we don’t like/ use for the food bank.Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less! £196,000/£177560 to go0

I went to my local charity shop today and they waved me away, saying they are chock-a-block with donations and are not taking any more of anything!0

Yes that seems to happen a lot at our local charity shops.Miser1964 said:I went to my local charity shop today and they waved me away, saying they are chock-a-block with donations and are not taking any more of anything!
I had a car load of stuff & went to 4 charity shops.
None of them where taking anything.
Ended up at the recycling centre.

That is such a shame, what a terrible waste. :-( our tip has a charity shop attached to it called ‘the recycle shop’. They seem to take everything and rotate it and discard to the tip what doesn’t sell, the profit goes into community projects and local charities.greyteam1959 said:

Try your local freecycle group. When cleaning my parents house anything the charity shop couldn't accept went on there and was soon taken.1
