December 2022 4oC colder than December 2021

2 degrees average colder here, with deeper lows. I was disappointed we only saved about 10% compared to last year, having had internal insulation fitted in the summer, but I guess this explains some of it.
3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Octopus Flux0 -
2oC is not an insignificant drop. Per degree could equate 10% more energy.Raxiel said:2 degrees average colder here, with deeper lows. I was disappointed we only saved about 10% compared to last year, having had internal insulation fitted in the summer, but I guess this explains some of it.
It could be said you actually used 10% less energy for the month based on the outside temperature.1 -

It could be said you actually used 10% less energy for the month based on the outside temperature.Well it would be 30% if we added the 10% actual saving to an assumed 10% per degree, which I agree is actually pretty good - although it better be considering what the insulation cost!Interestingly I also used that site to compare October 2021 and 2022. A lot of people were talking about how mild October was, but it didn't feel it to me. We made a big saving in gas that month, 50%. Some of it may have been down to better weather, but for our location, timeandate.com says average temperatures were the same, with the same lows and '21 having a high 1°C higher. So its somewhat reassuring that it was money well spent.
