Loyalty penalty for home emergency insurance

Hi

I understand that, from Jan 2022 home & car insurance companies can no longer charge existing customers more than new customers ("loyalty penalty"). However, I haven't been able to work out whether "home insurance" also includes home emergency insurance (of the type offered by, say, British Gas/Homeserve/Hometree etc).

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

No, Home Emergency is a different class to Home and so is outside the rules. Some Home Emergency, just like warranties, aren't insurance at all but service plans and so outside the jurisdiction of the FCA
