oh no @MissRikkiC , i feel your pain with marestail. I finally managed to spray weedkiller on allotment yesterday, had to use a spray bottle, the pressure sprayer broke. My hands are feeling it today.

I had 20 minutes available on my lunch today so i have inspected the 2 beds with the marestail poking out from the soil. I had put pakchoi and spring onions in the 1 bed, and rocket, rainbow chard and cos lettuce in the other before the marestail was sticking out. They’ve all been munched by something, birds I suspect so I have turned it all over, dug out the marestail and will resow seeds in them asap. I have a brolly cloche for the brassicas which I love and so I might actually buy another one as it seems the birds aren’t happy with just their seeds and nuts 😡Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

I am so jealous.
I've been so busy sorting the garden, prepping and tidying it up and trying to get my house sorted that I have neglected my planting etc but I am determined to make the most of the next few days and have a mass planting spree! Now that the greenhouse is properly secured and I have gotten rid of a load of junk that was hindering planting space.
Just need to get some compost tomorrow and then I will be on it!
Time to find me again4 -
@sammy_kaye18 with all that ground work prep you will fly through the planting bit. That’s ‘the cream of the job’, as my husband describes it 😊

I'm back from hols and planted many, many squash seeds on Monday. I haven't planted any beans but I need to. After two weeks away I can confidently say that any illusion of control has now been decisively shattered. OMG
Asparagus bed is growing but there is half a dead pigeon (taken out by a sparrow-hawk perhaps) in there. And radishes and salad leaves, and Pak choi in the greenhouse are all being usedSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

20 degrees forecast here as well, although you wouldn't think looking outside. I moved some potted herbs from Sainz into larger containers and sowed some more seeds around them, I hope they survive and we get a continuous crop throughout the summer.
I have lots of tomatoes and peppers that I need to start hardening. Reading more about tomatoes I realise I have no idea if my plants are determinate or not, only 2 seed packets mention height/ cane support, need to look it up for the others. 😅
Surprisingly, the seeds I harvested from Lidl sweet peppers last summer seem to be doing better than the seeds I bought.
I planted some peas, chard and salad seeds at the allotment a few weeks ago. I've been there more than a week ago, need to go check on them. I can see part of my plot from the gate on my way to school and I can see couch grass has invaded the raspberry bed again. I spent so much time trying to pull it out, I can't keep up with it. 😖01.12.2020 - CC £16,839 / Loan £18,820 / EF £0

Lidl are doing 4 packets of veg seed for £1 this week. Anyone know what are included in this offer? Also. does anyone know if they do a cos lettuce, or similar upright. Trying to avoid a wasted journey.0

All the babies went outside today first thing to start hardening off, lovely sunshine.
All the second sowing of trombocino.germinated, very happy about that. Some of the cabbages have not germinated at all, had a look and it all from the same seed company, in date though. Since the garden centre selling some savoy plants, might just get some there.
Planning on getting some beds ready this week so can plant the tomatoes and some squashes week after. It's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil.4
