as they are very likely to go down in price quickly

How do you 'know' that ?

  • because i watch the shares in the past and once they get to this values its usually at its peak
people then sell and it dips like made its a predictable cycle

not really wanting to use X-O as take a week or more with postal strikes
rather just go to bank and sell on the spot

AFAIK, selling paper share certificates on the high-street just isn't possible any more.

The closest you'll probably get if you want an immediate 'sell' price but don't want to open an online nominee account is to sell via the phone using a service like 'Shareview Dealing' (via Equiniti) but you'll still have to wait for their forms and send your certificates off to them via post - just bear in mind the dealing charges will be high and you'll be liable for a variety of different charges (or any change in the share price) if your certificates get lost or are delayed in the post after making a deal.

I wouldn't be selling shares like that personally though, especially considering the current state of the postal service - it would be far better (and cheaper) to open an account with a broker like A-O. There is still a risk with posting certificates to them of course, but at least there isn't a deal that depends on their successful arrival. Once the account is set up, I've found A-O to be very efficient. Certificates I've posted to them have been in my account and ready to sell within days of being posted (1st Class Signed for), rather than weeks.

  • Hi,
if you contact the registrars of the shares then you could deal over the phone.
