PAC code transfer question from Smarty

I am wondering how precisely this will work. I've not had a problem transferring numbers from/to Smarty or Lebara and vice versa before. However, due to a later than usual delivery of my new SIM, I'm wondering about how the timing works.

When I got back home from work, I saw that my Lebara SIM had arrived by post today. My Smarty contract was originally due to renew on 03/01/2023.

I have turned Auto renew to "Off" and got a PAC code from Smarty. I then went to the Lebara website (my new network) and filled out the "Keep your existing number form". I was incredibly busy working today so I was unable to do this until after 5pm today (29/12/2022). The earliest day offered for the transfer was 04/01/2023 which went through.

I get that the porting over happens on 04/01/2023. My question is does my Smarty service cease as of 00:00 on 03/01/2023 since I am not renewing. Or do I have service (in terms of receiving calls/texts) on that day?

I do have a backup phone in any case to make calls. I am wondering about anyone who rings my number, or texts on 03/01/2023 itself?

Porting usually takes place at (or around) 11am on the requested day and may take as late as 5pm, but is normally done straight away.

Porting usually takes 48hrs but is delayed around periods of holidays, bank or otherwise, and weekends.

But to answer the specific question I did this moving away from Lebara a couple of weeks back and the sim remained active to receive texts and calls.

Your smarty sim will remain active until the 4th the day your number goes over so you will be able to use it right up till it goes over to o2.

Thank you. Yes, that seems to be the case. So the SIM remains active to receive texts and calls. And the switchover will happen the next day.
