Smart meter monitoring

  • I have recently had smart meters fitted by British Gas after replying to an email advertising them. In the email they repeatedly explained how I would receive a smart monitor and how useful they are including photos and even a video! They didn't supply one when they fitted the meters and when I contacted them they said they are no longer supplying the monitors and are planning to develop an app. I've gone from being able to read my meters and track my energy use to having no idea whatsoever. They have not replied since I have queried this. I would prefer for them to remove the smart meters and revert back to my old meters. Anything I can do? - I have blatantly been mis-sold.
    Sit down and make a written complaint. This is what it states in BG’s Supply Licence:

    However, you can't be mis-sold something that you don't pay for and is a government requirement.

    No problem. Suppliers are also signed up to The Smart Meter Installation Code of Practice. This backs up what it says in the Supply Licence.

    However, you can't be mis-sold something that you don't pay for and is a government requirement.
    We're all paying for the smart meter rollout.  £13billion and rising IIRC. 😠
