Smart meter monitoring
So I had smart meters fitted by Eon but for over a year the Home monitors they send as part of the switch were 'out of stock'. Now ive been bundled over to Eon Next they are saying we are a different company and we dont need to fulfil the Eon obligation to provide one. If you want one they are £50. Given that everything else has transferred over is this fair and correct?

Hi,others have recommended the Bright App to monitor usage, have a google.0

I wouldn't pay £50 for one, have an IHD stuck on the top of the cupboard unplugged, it's easy enough to find out how much energy each appliance uses and once you know that whats the point ?
I can see my half hourly usage on my OVO account, I sometimes check their meter reading with my actual and it's spot on.
As others say there is the bright app and others free of charge1 -
+1 for Bright. better and clearer than any ihd.2

Or an alternative to Bright is https://hugoenergyapp.co.uk/0

Indeed. I tried both Bright and Hugo. Bright takes your actual tariff whereas with Hugo you have to put your own details in (if you're on anything other than the vanilla cap). Also too much space taken up with CO2 emitted type nonsense with Hugo. I ditched it and stuck with Bright.4.7kWp (12 * Hyundai S395VG) facing more or less S + 3.6kW Growatt inverter + 6.5kWh Growatt battery. SE London/Kent. Fitted 03/22 £1,025/kW + battery £24951

Two key differences between Bright and Hugo. One, Hugo requires credit card details to verify an address whereas Bright does not. Two, it would seem that Hugo is not a Registered DCC Other User and it uses a third-party to connect to the user’s smart meters. There is nothing wrong with this type of arrangement per se but I would want to know that data is held securely between the two parties.frostysaver said:Or an alternative to Bright is https://hugoenergyapp.co.uk/
Bright is owned by Hildebrand, a Registered DCC Other User, and it uses its own DCC-approved Adapter software to access smart meter data. Sign up just requires a MPAN/MPRN and the GUID off the IHD.

I have recently had smart meters fitted by British Gas after replying to an email advertising them. In the email they repeatedly explained how I would receive a smart monitor and how useful they are including photos and even a video! They didn't supply one when they fitted the meters and when I contacted them they said they are no longer supplying the monitors and are planning to develop an app. I've gone from being able to read my meters and track my energy use to having no idea whatsoever. They have not replied since I have queried this. I would prefer for them to remove the smart meters and revert back to my old meters. Anything I can do? - I have blatantly been mis-sold.0

You can read a Smart meter just like your old meter.I've gone from being able to read my meters and track my energy use to having no idea ,.......
Lots of discussions re the IHD - mine ended up on a drawer after a weekNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill2 -
My IHD has saved my bacon quite a few times when I've left stuff on by mistake.2
