    Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Consensus seems to be its nothing that's fallen off the machine. Still have no idea how it got in there, so remains a mystery!

    If it were part of a bearing you would have heard it long before it got to that stage, probably see a pool of water too, that object is something that’s gone  in rather than something that’s come out
  • It's from clothing or shoes, could have been trapped in the door rubber for a while before revealing itself. Ever washed trainers in your machine?
