I suppose in the end nobody got hurt! Out of interest, did you have the money to buy the house outright if your sale was delayed due a bit?custardly said:
Apologies, yes sellers. No problem. Appreciate that people had different views about this. However, I always maintain that you shouldn't get emotional when buying/selling things. It's just a business transaction.ManuelG said:
I don't know if I should thank you or not! But thank you for the update.custardly said:Just to close the loop on this. We completed last week, buyers found out at exchange. However, nothing really came of it. All is fair in love and war.
I assume you mean sellers...?1 -
Ish, we had the money in terms of mortgage (AIP) + money in ISAs. Didn't want to use the ISAs though as had built it up over many years. Hence, preferred to sell ours in order to buy.ManuelG said:

Yeah I get that, doing similar ourselves (without the subterfuge😉). If push came to shove would you have done that rather than lose the house?custardly said:

I bought my house without emotion, but I was ethical and didnt lie. Emotion and ethics in business are two different things.custardly said:

I am not criticising, I am merely pointing out that this whole topic was about business ethics not emotion.
Essentially, you behaved unethically, took a risk, and on this occasion it has paid off.
I am not judging, merely stating that this is the logical conclusion if what we have learned here.
Most people would say not to let emotion completely dictate business decisions, most people would say to always behave ethically and tell the truth.4 -
Honestly not sure. We have a big mental aversion to liquidating our ISAs. Obviously will have to do it some day 😀.ManuelG said:
