If I amend my direct debit to pay annually online, or any change actually, the bill shoots up to approx £2400 per annum.
I have not had a meter read since January 2022, although I put an artificial one in during July to create a bill.
Does this mean I have a leak? Or is it calculated based on meter readings I input? I have rang them and they say my next read is due January again and investigate any leaks myself!
Thanks,

Why would you give a fake meter reading?
Your bill is based on readings and any possible leak. But its more likely your dodgy reading has messed up your bill

I put an approx reading based on history as I didn't want to wait a whole year to pay (I pay on receipt of readings via variable direct debit)

Why did you not read it and put the actual reading in?

Seems to be the obvious thing to do rather than having a random guess
