12 coupons gone today
All on 6 pairs of knickers, which I've desperately needed for ages! All the old ones have been binned, I don't think they can even go in the textile waste bins can they? I only have 3 coupons left, but I need two new Bras too. It's going to be lean times until new year

Three and a half coupons spent on yarn - not even posh yarn, but there wasn't the best choice and I need a project to occupy me while travelling. The idea is to crochet some wrist warmers as gifts (and a practice pair for me). Having said the yarn isn't posh, it's in nice colours: a cream and a sort of lilac that look quite sophisticated together.
@flamingo747, I came across a charity shop selling what looked to be end of line bras last year. It was somewhere in Dorset, but I'm sure it's not the only place to do that and it was counted as off the ration. I got rather nice navy blue one.
@Laura_Elsewhere, that will be a very snug nightshirt, I can well believe it's super-soft.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@Cherryfudge Bras are very rare in my chazzers, though I've had a couple over the years. I normally go for a-sda Bras, but none in the right size yesterday, will try the next town over and hopeMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

@Laura_Elsewhere, that nightshirt looks very cozy.
@flamingo747. Good luck finding bras. They’re 1.5 coupons each if new but “free” from a secondhand source. It strikes me that somewhere like eBay or Vinted might be your saviour. (Item sold on both count as secondhand.). Search for “brand new with tags”.
I’ve counted up my yarn purchase from the Great British Yarns closing down sale: 12 x 100g skeins of Aran-weight Studio Donegal “soft Donegal” in a dark grey tweed; 6 x 100g of 4-ply Studio Donegal “Darnie” in a light blue with a slight grey tinge; and the last 2 skeins of that Alpaca-wool blend I purchased earlier this year (since it’ll never be available again). < gulp! > That’s 40 coupons of yarn!
Add in the handbag I purchased last month (5 coupons) and I’ve gone from 49 coupons spent to 94! So far over that I’m embarrassed. Please don’t tell DH that I’ve spent 28 of his coupons! (I think the Soft Donegal might become a jumper for him, so can justify using some of his coupons.)
< hangs head in shame >. My name is Pip and I’m a wool addict.

There has been some comment in the press recently about a report commissioned by C40 cities - a group of mayors of large cities. The report by Arup talks of the changes in behaviour and consumption needed by residents of cities to help reach and maintain the 1.5 degree warming limit target
https://www.arup.com/perspectives/publications/research/section/the-future-of-urban-consumption-in-a-1-5c-world
Most of the comments in the press have been on the suggestion that we should not take more than one short haul flight every three years - or every two if a more relaxed target is adopted. There has been much less attention paid to the clothing and textile targets.
The "progressive" target is no more than eight new items of clothing a year and the "ambitious" target is no more than three new items a year!! This is defined as Consumption category encompassing full supply chain emissions from all apparel, footwear and other textile products (e.g. rugs, curtains, bedding, fabric) purchased by city residents.
66 coupons suddenly looks like unimaginable luxury
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!7 -
Oooohhhh..... Thanks for the link @maryb. I've downloaded it and will read it later.
I could rant for hours about what I'd like to make happen, but most of them require a degree of political will which our politicians don't have. For example, changing building regulations so that all new builds have treble-glazed windows, solar panels on their roof, a small S-shaped wind-turbine attached to the chimney, and off-street parking for at least one vehicle per bedroom (with electrical vehicle charging points). The sheer volume required would result in upscaling of production which would lower the costs for the rest of us.
As our predecessors did during WW2, we can all do our bit. It's incremental gains that will make the most difference.
66 coupons require planning and aiming for elegance, not "fashion". (Also a bit of skill in the mending department.)
- Pip
ETA: I'd also give a tax break for businesses and blocks of flats to put solar panels on their roofs. Zero rating the VAT would be a good start."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

Wow, just 3 new items?! That's a lot of skanky pants
I feel guilty about flying again this year. So far I did Nuremburg return this summer, will be Paris in Oct. The only other time I've flown in my life was Dublin in 2019. Maybe it's not too bad, 6 short flights in 40 years
I bought a v-inted bra, the same ones I wanted from a-sda, so chance to see how it goes. The postage is a pain though, the bra itself was £1, total cost £4.14 😕 they're only £6 new. At least its no coupons though
