I made Edlothia in variegated yarn for my SIL for her birthday - she loves it! You have to pay attention to the instructions but otherwise it's not too complicated2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

I’ve struggled to get going again with my sewing. Then I saw a thing on Facebook about ‘100 days of sewing’. The idea is that you commit to sewing something - even if only for a few minutes - every day for 100 days. I didn’t want to sign up for anything, and I know I can’t do 100 consecutive days, but it made me think about trying to sew more regularly and not feeling I had to finish something on the same day.It has really helped me get my enthusiasm back, and I’ve even finished a couple of alteration/fixing jobs that have been waiting ages. I’m currently tracing my trouser pattern, a job I dislike, and giving myself lots of time - no actual sewing will happen for a few days.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.7

I think there can be a sort of tyranny abut having to do something every day, though obviously it can have benefits as well. The idea of doing something to the end of the year is good, because there's a finish in sight, but you don't have to do things daily - and let's face it, Christmas can rather take over for a while.
Well done for getting back on the wagon @PollyWollyDoodle. I hope the trouser project goes to plan!
I've currently got two crochet projects: the first is the shawl I started to while away car journeys in the summer. It just keeps going (had a look at Laura's Edolitha shawl and am dreaming of making one in subtle moth colours but I need to finish other stuff first). The yarn persists in lasting out another round, and yet another round and my friend and I are inventing variations on the stitches to make it work. The other project is fingerless gloves which are quite quick. I was going to make a few pairs as gifts but I'm not sure I have the stick-at-it-ability. One pair is three quarters done and already I've had to pull it all out and start again because the original was too big.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Hi all, I heard a snippet on the radio about this and found this article. It seems this project is still going but I haven't found an up to date article yet, but I thought you might be interested

I have coupons to declare, a t shirt bought for the nephew's birthday so 4 coupons used and 200 g of chunky to make a scarf for a friend for c wordso another 4 coupons. So down to 36.5 remaining
In other news I finished the scrappy blanket for OH and started a baby cardigan using some yarn from the cs. I am on the 3rd attempt and I think I will frog it completely. The first attempt was too small as the baby insists on growing at a rate of knots, I misread the pattern on the 2nd attempt, the instructions are for both 4ply and dk and I read the wrong bit, and now I just don't like the way it is knitting up. The yarn is mainly cotton and seems to be constructed with a core with yarn wrapped around it but the wrapped around bit keeps bunching up as I knit giving a lumpy appearance. It is a lovely mint colour but I can understand why it ended up in the cs. I will think of something else to do with it, maybe a scrappy blanket for my lovely neighbour who admired the one I made for OH.
As I am having a very lazy morning I had been catching up on the posts
@Laura_Elsewhere I love the nightshirt
@PipneyJane I couldn't agree more about the changes to planning regulations. I have ranted for years about putting solar panels on every new build as standard. I just don't understand why it doesn't happen, well I think I do but would probably be banned from the forum if I wrote it here. As for the small wind turbines I have actually looked at having one fitted but it seems even though we manufacture them here in the UK it is actually illegal to fit them onto residential buildings. I despair. My roof faces the wrong way for solar panels apparently
@Laura_Elsewhere, very interesting article about garment quality and I have to agree that I like to have a choice of what to wear and although I have far too many clothes I do wear them to death. I used to make my own clothes when I was a teenager but when I left home and didn't have a sewing machine I fell out of the habit and haven't got back into it yet though I do have plans. I also agree about Marie Kondo. I don't think I have anything that doesn't spark joy, that's why I have it, the problem is I have too much. I don't have a hoarding disorder, others may disagree
, but I just hate waste and if there is nothing wrong with the item I struggle to let it go. I have got over the guilt of getting rid of gifts that I don't like/want and these usually go straight to the cs now rather than languishing in the wardrobe for years. Most of my house is in the 3 category apart from the room of doom which is probably a 6 but I am working on it. You must have been heartbroken having to throw away so much fabric and yarn from your parent's house but you have done a great job and at least you know that what you have will be useable when you get to it now.
@Cherryfudge good shopping but I could never have coped, as Flamingo said I am on the large side and have never found anything in a cs that would fit that I would wear even though I do look quite regularly.
The discussion about using cs quilt covers is very interesting. I recently recommended this to a friend who quilts as the cost of those fat quarters is amazing and even if she didn't want to use it for the top they could easily be used for the back.
Well I had better go and do something or the day will be gone. Sorry for the long post, I will try to keep up in future.
Take care everyone
