Morning all. Welcome to the thread @Zuzi, you're in great company here.
I have one of those shaving bars @Clutterbug07 - it's lasted me over a year and still has about a third of the bar left!
I need to also stop hanging on to things, even if I don't like them @wondercollie - you aren't alone!
Had a little declutter on Friday and 16 makeup items are now sitting ready and waiting to be dropped off at the boots recycling or in the bag for Back to Mac; I have enough Mac empties for 9 lipsticks so might have to spread the returning over a few weeks 😂
Also have a couple of UU's from the weekend:
Sensodyne Deep Repair toothpaste: the only one I can use and it's so expensive so I count it here. Usually can pick it up on a 2 for special price though. Have replaced with the last one in the cupboard
Lush Lord of Misrule Ballistic: love the scent of this and it seems to linger on my skin a bit better than most.
Missha Lemon Sheet Mask: still working through all the packs of these I brought back from Korea in 2019. I am determined to use all the sheet masks this year.

Another UU from last night:
Vichy Mineral 89 Serum: I like this, however it was causing a bit of stinging occasionally on my skin when applying but think that was due to applying it too soon after my retinol. It's a good hydrating serum but have a few other mini's to work through first before I look to repurchase. Plus the 75ml size lasts me about 8 months so I think that's pretty good value for money.

Morning all,
I am finishing up a list of all the items of interest (except things like toothpaste, nail polish, makeup), I am logging everything I have and it seems to be somewhere between 150 and 200 items.
I can't decide what UU number to go for this year, 100 might be too ambitious, then again, I do have several mini and deluxe sizes so that would speed it up. I'll probably start low and then if the progress is swift I can increase the overall number of empties I am aiming for. I say empties because I shouldn't have to throw away anything, and there's maybe 1-2 things which may end up given away.
I do have to confess a purchase thoughwell tbh I am not sad about it because it is something that has been on my wishlist for very long and I jumped at a great price. It's one of the top medik8 products and a deluxe size is available via CB so couldn't resist (and bought two, just in case)
This is something else I struggle with when discussing skincare - whenever someone mentions a good product I go off and google it and often end up buying unnecessarily, so I wasn't sure whether to even mention what it is
I never buy anything on credit but the amounts I have spent over the last few years must be ridiculous, so I am really looking forward to decimating my stock over the next 1-2 years and then only adding to it after careful consideration.5 -
Hi @Zuzi, it may be best to set a smaller goal at first so that the number doesn't become overwhelming. I like doing pan the relevant number in the year so this year it's 23 in 2023 and I usually keep it to include only make up and fragrance however I have joined a challenge on Instagram which is called "25 Pan Over Purchase" whereby you do not permit yourself to purchase any make up item until you have either hit pan or finished 25 make up items. You can set certain exceptions for yourself ie it's your birthday and you ask for gifts or purchase with gift card. The creator includes mini sizes and as it includes everything including staples like foundation and concealer (which I don't typically include) 25 doesn't seem that big a number. I'm actually at no 3 already as I've counted a mascara, mini primer and an eyeshadow that I've hit pan in.If you are looking to UU other items rather than make up ie skincare/bodycare/haircare why not make up a list of 23 items containing all those categories to keep you motivated?Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Thanks @VALM that is a good point, I was kicking myself end of last year because I spent a completely unnecessary amount on sheet masks *just* to get my number; I needed the 15-20 "missing" items so much I went out and bought them rather than continuing to use 1-2 of the serums/masks/treatments I already own. So silly, I am not doing that again
!
I hope I won't jinx it but my problem this year shouldn't be the not buying new stuff, it will be using up what I have. I finished my list and the total is 166 items across skin, body and haircare with the great majority skincare. 65 out of the 166 are already opened so they will be my priority. Whatever happens, I do not want to finish the year with a list of more than 100 #fingerscrossed
I don't have anything with a "pan" on my list but I do love packaging where you can see how little remains inside4 -
@ruby_eskimo thanks for the headsup- that is good to know!
Was my birthday over the weekend, and I got some lovely Body Shop gifts!I'll be counting them as INs since they have come into my collection this year, although when I do my totals spent obvs I wont be counting them since I didn't buy them!
- The Body Shop - Black Musk Fragrance Mist: I love the Black Musk perfume, is my every day scent, so very happy to get these as they will deffo be used
- The Body Shop - Black Musk Shower gel: these came in a little set
- The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter- big size 73g: This came in a really cute set with 7 washable/reusable cotton rounds- one for each day of the week, and they have a little tag with each day on which is adorable. Love this balm (except the tin
) so will definitely use these up this year. I do like an oil face remover, but balms are so good for travelling, no messy spills anywhere!
- The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter- small size 16g
Soooooooooooo many INS this month so far- eek! 16! Although 10 were gifts or bought with gift money, so I haven't spent a totally insane amount, but still- is a lot of INS. Have had 6 UUs so far, and don't think I will break even this month, but we shall see. Plenty more month left to finish some product. I definitely have 4 items that will finish soon which is exciting!

- Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-Up Remover: Bought this at the end of November….. It's small (125ml) but I think the washable cotton rounds soak up more product than regular ones, and I need to be more aware of that! My eyes have been very watery recently, and I'm wondering if it is this. Alas I had to buy one for over the Christmas break as this one was so close to done that I didn't want to take it with me incase it ran out, so I have a whole nother one of these to work through before trying something else

Belated birthday wishes. Can't you use the cleansing balm to remove eye make up, I wear primer, shadow, mascara and on occasion liner and it all comes off fine with a balm?Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
