I offered DD a bottle of Philosophy Amazing Grace perfume to take back to uni, she said she had quite a lot of perfume so she has taken a bottle of it with about 1/4 left.  She has also taken my last bottle of the matching shower gel, just a small 240ml size.  That was the last bottle of my original, very large stash of shower gels which ran into 3 figures at one time.

That is a good milestone

I used to have a solid stash of philosophy shower gels back in the day too - loved the fruity ones.

    Hi all,

I am a sporadic poster on these threads (like, once a year/18 months sporadic  :D) I would say that most months I do not buy any skincare/toiletries (makeup / perfume aren't really my problem areas) but when I do it is usually a haul or a big promo offer with lots of little minis as a GWP...

I have been tracking the number of UUs over a year since 2019, it is usually somewhere around 75-125. Last year I desperately wanted to reach 100 but realised in September that I am very far off. I didn't want to give up so lined up all the minis I had (well OK, not all, I have too many for that!) and almost-used-up products and removed everything else from view. That way, I was able to focus on using up exactly the items that had a chance to be emptied by end of year.

I had to resort to semi-cheating in that I also bought and used multiple sheet-masks in December, but in the end I was very happy to be able to cross the invisible line and reach my 100/100  :)

This year, I have a real chance to get the amount of my skin- and bodycare items to a level that will actually allow me to feel happy with new purchases. I've had TOO MUCH of everything for at least 5 years now so the joy from getting new things is always tainted by buyer's remorse and the feeling that nothing was really necessary.

I will try to avoid any purchases for at least the first quarter, and see how many UUs I have by then. I have a list that tracks my purchases, I started it in second half of 2020 and I still have some items from then so I want to try and use them in that order, starting with the oldest.

I probably won't join every monthly thread but I will try to check in regularly, to feel some additional accountability. Good luck to everyone else trying to reduce their stashes!

@dolly84 my sister always buys me a bottle of Philosophy shower gel for Christmas.   This year she gave me Candy Cane.

Emma went to the Trafford Centre yesterday so I asked her to pop into Lush for me.  She got me a Sleepy bubble bar and Twilight bath bomb.

  • UU one off my list- whoop whoop!

    • HaruHaru Wonder- Black Rice Hyaluronic Cream: Travel size product, was a gift with purchase a while back.  Used it up on my body, wouldn't buy it
    Plus
    • The Body Shop- Blue Musk Zest Hair And Body Wash:  Nice smell, but not my fave- probably wouldn't buy again, didn't love it.

    INS
A Boots order arrived, and that should be me set up for toiletries for a while.  Hopefully!!!  Bought these with some Christmas money, so none of my own was technically spent- counting this as gifts.
    • The INKEY List™ Succinic Acid Treatment 15ml:  My current tube is nearing the end, so this is a replacement.  Am sure Santa would love to know their Christmas money was spent on a spot treatment
    • Umberto Giannini Grow Mask Hair and Scalp Treatment: replacement as all my hair masks were used up.  Tried this Saturday, it smells divine!
    • Eco Warrior Moisturising Boys & Girls Shaving Bar - Bergamot & Lime Essential Oils:  Normally use a cheapo conditioner for shaving, but it does tend to clog up the razor, so thought I would try this- should last a while as it's a bar.  Had no cheap conditioner, so this was a replacement.
    • Revolution Hydrate & Fix Fixing Spray 100ml:  Don't have heaps left of my current one, so this is a replacement.
    Jan Grocery Challenge 2023:  £181.18/£400

@Zuzi, I know what you mean.   I read along and then never get around to posting.

I've managed to get rid of two bags of things that I know I will never use at work.  Lessons learnt?  Coworkers love freebies and that monthly subscription boxes were a waste of money.

Finished an Origins eye serum sample tube.   Used it as an all over night cream because I really don't think skin knows where the serum was meant to go.

Finished a Body Shop Satsuma Hand Cream.   My favourite scent and I have several on reserve.   My family keeps buying them for me for Christmas, birthday, Easter.

Tossed a Revlon lip stain.   It was a second chance item.   Tried it when I bought it, didn't really like it but didn't want to try again.  Second outing?  Well, time to say good bye.

Must learn to stop hanging onto things.  If I don't like them, bye, bye.

I've got a Philosophy shower gel and matching body cream on the go.   I just don't get peoples love of these products.   It's meh, I'm really tempted just to chuck both of them.
