Planned my meals from yesterday until Friday 6th January using up a lot of what I've already got in. Made soup and bubble and squeak which was portioned and put in the freezer.
Went out today and spent £22.75 to stock up on dog food and filling the freezer for my son, he has sensory issues with food and eats the same stuff all the time. Also picked up some gravy and Mayflower curry sauce mix.
£22.75/£33011 -

Shopping yesterday came to £72 (I know it’s December but it’s from January’s budget 🥰 )
thinking about switching to cash only for Jan - I usually do online shops due to my husbands treatment and generally avoiding going into places, but we’re considering doing so. May wait until his next appointment (10th) so we know what the rest of the month looks like first but it will definitely help me budget.
we don’t have many shops round us unfortunately so are a bit limited.Widowed November 2024

1st grocery shop for the January challenge came to £92 in Aldi. I bought enough for a couple weeks of meals and hopefully next weekend will only need to top up on fruit, veg and milk.12

Had a chat with Mr KK over dinner and told him about the target I have set us for the month. He was shocked it was so high … and then I told him how much we normally spend! 😂😉 He was usefully shocked and understands that if we can get it down that is more money in our savings (he set up his own savings account for the first time today! 👏🍾😊) or OPs to the mortgage, which means he can stop working sooner! He’s onboard 😊
Shop set up for delivery tomorrow. Including delivery coming in at £91.84 so comfortably within target.KKAs at 15.07.25:
- When bought house £315,995 mortgage debt and end date at start = October 2039 - now £233,521
- OPs to mortgage = £11,338 Interest saved £5225 to date
Fixed rate 3.85% ends January 2030

Well done on getting Mr KK on board. It really helps. For my DH the savings are for holidays (we're retired and own our home).10

I’d mentioned the not having more than one ready meal type food each per week. Oh says Mr KK, we don’t buy many of those …. We wrote our menu list for next week and *then* I pointed out how many of them we had on that list …. he was quite taken aback, especially as they were all his (purely by chance, I’m eating from stock this week … 😉). This will be a work in progress as we come up with alternatives.KKAs at 15.07.25:
