Issue transfering ISA from Virgin Money to Barclays

  • My 08 sort code says it's a Virgin ISA......

I have no idea how to 'Google the sort code'.
My only interest is that when, in the future, I come to transfer it to another provider I don't want them to tell me it's with someone else.

We have had quite a few cash ISAs with Virgin over the years and never had a problem with transfers.

The log in for the ISA is a different process than for a Virgin current account.      How confusing !!!!

    No that doesn't help me.
That tells me, quote........'Virgin Money (28 Clydesdale Bank).
I still don't know if my ISA is with Virgin or Clydesdale.

Probably best to contact Virgin then to make sure.

Virgin Money is a brand, it was acquired by CYBG plc in 2019,
there are at least three different banking systems below the surface with 05 , 08 and 82 sort codes.
Clydesdale, Yorkshire and another ?, each with different login processes.
The other would be on the (ex) Northern Rock server.
  • I could contact Jeff Prestridge at the Mail suggesting this might be a subject worthy of investigation. Surely it's not acceptable for people who follow the ISA transfer process to have their application rejected due to the shortcomings of Virgin Money.
  • I’ve had my request to transfer an ISA from Virgin to another provider just ignored for 6 weeks. The other provider has told me they are having this issue constantly with Virgin who are apparently overwhelmed. Formal complaint to Virgin has also been ignored, I get the impression they are somewhat falling apart!

I made a formal complaint to virgin back in July. Still unresolved... They are supposed to resolve within 8 weeks according to FCA guidelines

Have you escalated to the ombudsman yet?  That's not a swift process either but is the recommended route to follow when financial institutions aren't playing ball....
  • The Virgin name is becoming indicative of poor performance and failure to deliver. Anyone who has experience of Virgin Media might agree and along with Virgin Money and the failed Virgin launch a coup!e of days ago is just the tip of the iceberg.

I haven’t escalated yet - I keep thinking I’ll escalate, but I kind of want virgin to resolve the issue and propose an amount of compensation, that if I then disagree with, I can refer to the ombudsman. I might try emailing the CEO if I can find his/her name and email address, that sometimes speeds things up.

I think that means that ii is on what was the Virgin site before merger
Even when you enter the sort code into sort code checking site the answer usually comes back as Virgin and in brackets Clydesdale 09 for example
