Just had a thought of something I'd not made a note on my money to do list : update our debt total. My loan - £2859.31
Hubby's loan - £3943.45
Total debt £6802.76Finally Debt Free 24/4/20231 -
Still not posting as much as I should be. Life has been manic the last few weeks.
We're slowly chipping away at my loan and another payment has just cleared taking it to £2441.44. I get paid in less than a week and i'm hoping I can send at least another £50 overpayment. I'm going to split any 'spare' money 50/50 between loan OP and emergency savings. We've not been overpaying on hubby's but his is slowly coming down with just normal repayments. Balance today £3943.45 but next £179.25 repayment should clear tomorrow. Finally Debt Free 24/4/20230 -
Thank goodness is the weekend! It's been the longest week ever, roll on the Easter holidays.
not much to report, I've been paid and have an extra £60ish after picking up an extra 2.5hours a week.
I didn't have have a much left in the joint account as I'd hope. All thanks to Amazon who took £95 for prime. I've cancelled it as hubby still had his student discount. Hopefully it'll be returned back to the account this week so I can send it as an overpayment. The balance on our account was a massive £23.67 so set it to my loan. Finally Debt Free 24/4/20230 -
What a difference a month can make. With a cash little gift from my dad and a pension additional payment for my husband, we've finally been able to clear the last £5600 of our debt.I feel like a huge weight has been lifted and I never want to owe another penny (other than mortgage debt) paying both these off early gas saved us a few hundred pounds in interest abd more importantly it's freed up and £398 a month. This will come in handy as my eldest is hoping to start university in September and she'll need some support.
Happily this will be my last post on this diary. I'll keep plodding in with the selling and extra income and will join the world of Mortgage Free Wannabes. Thank you for all you support. Finally Debt Free 24/4/20230 -
Congratulations on clearing the last of your debt. Your plan is similar to how ours was in that we wanted to reduce outgoings as eldest DD started Uni. For us it was our mortgage though. We cleared the mortgage just before they started Uni and after they finished we overpaid our pensions for early retirement.
