One of those how long is a piece of string questions.  Depends on where you are.  Someone I know died  Nov 6th, funeral 14th.  The undertaker will know the sort of timescales in your area.

I'm not the one organising it.

The thing is my husband and I had a trip planned in middle of January and wanted to have an idea to see if we can still go ahead or change the plans
Ask those that are organising it

Most want to know availablity of those that are most important to attend.

If you really want to go and don't have a date adjust your trip plans now with refundable.

This. We've always consulted with nearest and dearest re dates, e.g. first one I was responsible we waited for school holidays to start, and avoided children's birthdays.

Most recent one attendance was limited by Covid. Probably the next one we'll try to arrange around adult grandchildren who don't live locally.

The usual limitation is that there is insufficient crematorium capacity in many areas, and post-Christmas is obviously a time of peak demand.
If it's a burial, there is usually less delay.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Relative died mid Dec and funeral next week and that was me pushing for a date and get the first available date for registering death.

I am also going on holiday a few days after.  Funeral director said it couldn’t wait until I returned but I am sure if the grave digger wasn’t available or the church was fully booked we would just have to wait. Funny how you need to register a death within 5 days but the hospital takes 4 days to,do,their bit and the Register doesn’t have anything for 5 days and you cannot do one without the other.
