MediVet puppy plan

I've had to give my puppy up as I am no longer am I in the position to care for her (long story) - she is with my ex-in laws, they are hardcore dog lovers and she will have an amazing life.
I was paying medivet puppy plan (supposed to be for 1 year / £14.50 a month) which covered 2 shots, microchipping, monthly flea and worm treatment and discount in a few prescriptions - I emailed them explaining the situation and asking for cancellation but now they want to charge me a penalty + the full price of what I already paid for (- what I have already paid).
They sent me some calculations but I haven't sat down to go over it yet - but in total they say I owe £180 to close the plan.
Obviously I didn't know I was going to re-home my puppy when I took the plan - I read the fine print but didn't think it would apply to me.
BTW, ex-in laws live far away and will use their own vet - so I couldn't keep the plan and take the dog there myself - also I don't think medivet would give me all the remaining year's worth of worm / flea treatment in advance as they need to weight the puppy each month before dispensing the treatment.
Do I have any room for negotiation? Would anyone be up to go over the statement for me to see if their calculations add up (cheeky but I know some people love it!)

By all means check the cancellation fee calculation, but you agreed to the terms and conditions when you signed up, so no I don't see any room for negotiation.1

Would it be cheaper to just pay the monthly fee until the year is up and do not renew?1
-
Your agreement will state what the cancellation terms are .
Nobody here can see that agreement or read the terms.
We can check the arithmetic of their calculation which will be based on the cost sof what services you have used and what you have paid.
Most contracts have a cancellation charge,
The cost was based on your annual payments against the cost of the services provided. These agreements may sound good but they are designed to bring in money to the company. They are not a charity but in business to make a profit.1 -
“Please note that we have a cancellation fee for cancelling the MHP before the 12 months have finished. This cancellation fee is calculated by paying the full price of all the items you have collected from the MHP plan. What you would have paid without the MHP came up to: £226.71What you have paid so far: £75.97The cancellation fee would then come to: £226.71 - £75.97 = £150.74Please call the clinic when you can to pay the outstanding cancellation fee of £150.74”0

Clause 36
Where you pay by monthly DD - Your Plan will start on the day your Initial Payment ismade and continue automatically for periods of 12 months until it is cancelled by either you or us. To cancel you must give Your Vet more than 30 days’ notice ahead of the end of your current 12-month period. To cancel at any other time, you must notify Your Vet and settle either the outstanding amount for treatment received in the period between the joining date or anniversary of joining (as applicable) and the cancellation date (including all discounts received up to the cancellation date), or all outstanding payments for the remainder of the year immediately (whichever is lower).
In bold is the part MediVet are relying on, which is what you agreed when signing up to the plan.
In italics for the bit you may be able to rely on, if it's cheaper than the difference in treatment price.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear it in 2026.1 -
How many months have you left to pay for the 12 months? Is that less than the cancellation charge? If so, then that is what you should pay and MAKE SURE You tell them you do not want to renew after the 12 month contract is complete.1

@MovingForwards @sheramber - Thanks - here is my draft email to them - please tell me if you re picking up any mistakes - my figures came from my bank account rather then their confusing invoice - I have already given the notice and direct debt is cancelled with the bank.As per T&Cs -Clause 36Where you pay by monthly DD - Your Plan will start on the day your Initial Payment ismade and continue automatically for periods of 12 months until it is cancelled by either you or us. To cancel you must give Your Vet more than 30 days’ notice ahead of the end of your current 12-month period. To cancel at any other time, you must notify Your Vet and settle either the outstanding amount for treatment received in the period between the joining date or anniversary of joining (as applicable) and the cancellation date (including all discounts received up to the cancellation date),or all outstanding payments for the remainder of the year immediately (whichever is lower).Seeing that I have made 4 payments as below:30 Aug - 14.5003 Oct - 19.50 (not sure why this is more expensive then 14.50)01 Nov - 14.5001 Dec - 14.50I have paid in total £63. Taking into account that the policy for 12 months is £174, it seems like the total left for me to pay is £111 according to the sentence highlighted in bold /italics above, since this is lower than the quote of £150.47 given upon cancellation.0

you said 63 from your bank account. they say you have paid 75. as the difference is about one payment then are you sure you didn't pay the first payment in the vet clinic when you signed up (thats what we did)?
your letter looks fine (says what it needs to and is clear) but i would maybe change it to
i have been looking at the med vet terms and conditions for cancelling and Clause 36 says"Where you pay by monthly DD - Your Plan will start on the day your Initial Payment ismade and continue automatically for periods of 12 months until it is cancelled by either you or us. To cancel you must give Your Vet more than 30 days’ notice ahead of the end of your current 12-month period. To cancel at any other time, you must notify Your Vet and settle either the outstanding amount for treatment received in the period between the joining date or anniversary of joining (as applicable) and the cancellation date (including all discounts received up to the cancellation date), or all outstanding payments for the remainder of the year immediately (whichever is lower)."Seeing that you say I have paid in total £75.97. Taking into account that the policy for 12 months is £174, it seems like the total left for me to pay is £98.03 according to the sentence highlighted above, since this is lower than the quote of £150.47 given upon cancellation.
Can you please confirm I am reading the terms correctly and the outstanding amount should be £99.03?Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
