Boiler pressure / tiny gas usage even when no heating/hot water on.
I have a Valient ecoTEC pro24. it's around 10 years old.
I just had it serviced, and the engineer has left the bar pressure at 2.9 (this number blinks), though sometimes it drops to 2.5 (this number does not blink).
And the dial is right at the top of the safe zone and doesn't move.
Previous engineer last service said 2.5 was too high and dropped it to 1.3.
This recent engineer said the flow rate was high and he lowered it (don't know if that has anything to do with bar pressure).
I am getting amber flashing light and 2.9 bar when I put either the heating on or hot water.
The radiators are hot from top to bottom, and all are functioning, so don't appear to need bleeding.
Do I need to ask them to come back and lower it? Looking online 3 bar is considered dangerous....
This is the display with central heating on:
This is the display with hot water on (no heating):
This is what is shows most of the time when nothing is on:
But pretty often it's like this:
I also have tiny gas usage registering almost constantly on the Bright app when looking at the 30 minute results.... 0.03 kWh (even when using no gas appliances, heating nor hot water).
But looking at my actual meter, the display is in cubic meters to 3 decimal places, and is not moving as I look at it (while neither the heating or hot water is on).
I assume this means the Bright app is just a little inaccurate? My standing charges are shown on my IHD shortly after midnight, so I assume it's not those?
Thanks for your help!

System pressure of 2.9 is very high, you should reduce that ASAP . Normally you would want between 1-21
-
I'd definitely reduce the pressure, it's too high, it will drop naturally when the system is running but it's still far too high. It could damage other components.Do you have instant hot water, some boilers keep a reserve of hot water for when your require it. Normally a mode such as "eco" could disable this.1

no, no instant hot water.
okay, will bleed the radiators as soon as I can, and then get an engineer in to sort the issue.Saving for Christmas 2023 - £1 a day: #16. £90/£365

Olly_J said:You likely don't need a plumber, just bleed the rads until you are back in the normal range. They just overfilled the circuit is all, so just keep an eye on it once done to ensure it stays around the same range. Obviously if it goes back up to where you are now after then you'd need someone to look at the fill loop valve.

It could just be that your "engineer" accidentally left the fill valve slightly open.3
