Shop Charity in '23!

There's a little shop by the chemist and surgery and I'll often pop in there if I'm early for an appointment or whatever.  They've often had nice scarves, interesting books and glassware.  Today I noticed they'd done a major shift about of display furniture etc as if someone new was doing it all.  The first disturbing thing I saw was a nice scarf under a pair of shoes.  The display was great but I wouldn't want a scarf that someone had essentially walked on.  Even worse was another display featuring a pair of very well worn, somewhat vintage shoes with a scarf kinda blooming out of one of them.  That is so very disgusting to think that a scarf that I would want to wear around my neck had been cuddling up to someone's foot stink.  

OK - I could buy something and wash it.  And goodness only knows what people might have done with their scarves prior to donating them.  But the thing is I don't know what they have done with them.  I look them over, determine if they are clean, if they smell of old lady perfume I know I can wash them and will buy them if they are cheap enough.  But these today I could not buy as I would always think "this has been in a stranger's shoe".

Ewwwww that is disgusting......I would have been repulsed too!!!

Especially as scarves touch the skin!

@DigForVictory - I really enjoyed The Miniaturist! I thought it was well written and I have a bit of a thing for Dutch period fiction.

DD is going to start indoor skiing lessons soon and I wanted a pair of snow pants for her. I almost ordered some on line, but hesitated
Glad I did, as I found some in a charity shop in Matlock at the weekend for £4.50!

I'm with you on the anti-shoe-scarf thing.  I know chaz clothes could've been anywhere before you buy them, but it doesn't count because you didn't see it. Shoe-scarfs is just wrong. *shudder*

over 2022 and going into 2023 the use of charity shops has become a lot more popular even with the younger generations its really great to see

The scarf and shoe thing is gross. What on earth?

I want to go out tomorrow to look for a cross body bag as I'm going for a walk on Friday. All my bags are handbag style, apart from one but it is too small as I wanted it to be big enough to take a bottle of water and my umbrella just in case.

It did rain a little today, but it has been remarkably dry here for the past few weeks. It seems like it has been dry since I bought those two pairs of chazzer wellingtons a few weeks ago! I haven't had a chance to wear them at all.

I have been having a heavy week work-wise, having done 2 16hr days. Relief was found yesterday lunchtime with a deliberate trio out to a local chaz. The holiday was plentiful, with blouses, a thick knit, scarves, gloves, over-door hooks, jigsaw puzzles and of course a book . I got a lot for my £11.
