Amazon driver opened my front door without permission (it's on camera) - can I claim compensation?

But to be honest, I'd lock my door - our door's always locked. You never know who's lurking around and one of my parents' neighbours was burgled while she was at home when her door was unlocked. She neither heard nor saw a thing. Except that her handbag containing a purseful of money was no longer sitting on the kitchen table.
Next step to take? Lock the door, delivery people then have to knock, or at the very least send you a message to say the parcel's been delivered. We always get an email or text when they've been to us.
Please don't shop an amazon driver, their job is bad enough as it is.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.8 -
Compensation for what?! If you leave your door unlocked, anyone could walk in.I have a delivery driver who delivers work stuff and he often opens the door and puts stuff in my hallway as it’s heavy and he knows I’m working. I honestly don’t mind. I can understand being a bit taken aback if you’re not expecting it but to seek compensation is a bit much.1

Thanks
It did feel like you were invading someone elses space, but we were under pressure to deliver more and more parcels.
It was easier to do, when it was a regular customer. I guess people can understand why they throw parcels over the fence these days.
Good luck with your claim for compensation, times change.1 -
Did you have a sign that said 'unlocked door, do not enter'?
If not, no offence has been committed, no permission was need to enter through an unlocked door, and he didn't force entry. To get compo, you need to suffer consequential loss. What loss have your suffered? No free lunch, and no free laptop1 -
Why was your door unlocked if you don't want someone to be able to leave post? I would never dream of leaving my door unlocked whether 8m in or outLost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Courier should have taken parcel back into the system and delivery would likely have been delayed until after the holiday - subject of course to being able to gain access on re-delivery.
OP could have then put a second claim in for a delayed delivery1 -

He/she was planning to move to USA several years ago.
The answer may be different if he/she isn't a UK resident.
Assuming UK residency, well, I think the compensation question has been answered.
The next steps the OP asks about taking is to always lock his/her door.
My doors are locked even when we are in the house.
Some visitors have found it a bit disconcerting when they come in and the door is locked behind them.
I've heard of opportunistic thieves locally who try doors and steal what might be left in the hall.
Nobody can run off with my handbag.
I would expect a delivery driver to knock rather than open the door.
The OP doesn't say if this happened - that should also be on the camera.
If the delivery driver was stood at the door for a couple of minutes with no answer - we've all read about how they are under pressure to get items delivered - I can sort-of understand why he/she might try the door.
So the full story may have elicited responses you would be happy with.
Asking for compensation in situations where it's clearly not due does tend to attract the comments you've personally taken exception to.

OK. Working on the assumption the question isn't a joke - no compensation due as the delivery person hasn't done anything illegal. They were trying their best to get a package delivered. I accept they shouldn't have opened the door, but maybe they thought they heard somebody in the house calling. As concerning though is the OP leaving a door unlocked. Maybe it shouldn't be necessary to lock doors all the time, but the reality is that not doing so leaves the occupant at risk and may invalidate insurance if somebody enters the property and either steals items or vandalises the place. Most insurers require evidence of forced entry before they will consider paying out for theft.2
