    Well crisis over :D lol

Cheques for all accounts have now turned up.
Went to pay them in to my bank - HSBC, but they seem to have a prehistoric system for cheques where you need to fill out paperwork so I wasn't doing that.
Went to my backup of Nationwide but their self serve was out of order.

Had my Halifax with me also so tried their self serve but it rejected the cheques. Had to pay in at the desk.

I scanned mine into my Lloyds bank app, saving a trip :)

Two cheques arrived Today for £1 each. Woo hoo! I'll try not to spend it all at once :)
They were for the DDs taken on the 2nd and 5th of December after my accounts were closed on the 1st. I hadn't bothered chasing after them and was just going to let them go into, I'd assumed, the charity bucket for accounts closed with £1 left in them.
So depsite the gripes made about Birmingham Midshires, they were an excellent source of DDs and 100% of my savings with them has now been returned B)

Always nice when it works out as it should :)

I'll miss the easy direct debits but I wont miss their website & how some of their options would choose when they wanted to work.
  • No still waiting. No cheque and their customer service is the rudest ever. I hope they are soon out of a job.

is this account closing? I have had a BM account for years and my £5 DD still got paid 21st December?

I have had this account for five years just checked online. I only pay £5 a month for reward accounts, so only £300 plus interest in the account.

    When did people get letters?

Several were closed on the 1st December and the money paid deposited into the linked accounts (OK, that was as expected).

However, I have a few BM accounts that are (apparently) still active with a positive balance (in excess of £1)! so I haven't a clue what they are doing? when I called they seemed a little confused, so not sure what to do now!

Closure letters were first mentioned on here in September:

While my wife & I have had our cheques (& cashed them), my sister seems to still be waiting.

I had £6 in mine, wife £8, we received cheques.

One account my sister has says £20odd. No cheque but also not returned to linked account.

If they don't get a wriggle on then complaint letter will be on its way. Usually seems to generate a bit of cash. Had more success than failures so shall see how we get on.
