Changing to cable from landline

Hi I'm going to be changing from talktalk phone & broadband via my phone line to fibre by cable with another provider. I am out of contract with talktalk so cancelling it should be straightforward. I no longer want a landline phone so can anyone tell me what would happen to this please e.g. would it just become disconnected, or revert to BT and I'd have to ask them for disconnection or ?

Once you cancel with TalkTalk, it will just go dead.

Ah ok so I can just forget about it then. I guess BT would have to reinstate it should it ever be required again. Thank you. 👍0

Should you ever need to reinstate the service , it would only be anything to do with BT if it were BT who that service were ordered with , it’s Openreach that may or may not intervene should work be necessary to get the ‘line’ back up and working , or if FTTP becomes available.0

If you are moving to FTTP, you take out a contract with a new provider and, once the FTTP connection is up and running, you cancel your existing broadband/phone contract. There will be no loss of broadband service. For FTTP, Openreach or an AltNet provider has to fit a new consumer box to your home. It will then run fibre into your home to an Optical Network Termination. The ONT contains the modem.
The confusing part of your post is the word ‘cable’. FTTC uses fibre to the cabinet and an existing phone line to the home, and FTTP is full fibre to the home.0
