  • I'd recommend looking up the Boob or Bust method to have a go at measuring yourself at home. Boob or Bust – Bra Measuring Advice.

M&S are notoriously terrible at bra fitting as they use a really outdated method of measuring whereby they tend to add four or more inches to the band size to what the tape measure says. You would measure your waist at 32 inches and buy a pair of 36 inch trousers - it just makes no sense.

Most people are a much smaller band size and a much bigger cup size than they think they are. The media has us thinking that a D cup is huge but it's really not. And a 'D cup' means nothing without the band size; a 30D is a much smaller cup volume, for example, than a 40D. The reason for this is that all the cup size tells you is the number of inches difference between your band size and the fullest part of your breasts; an A is 1 inch different, B is 2 inches different and so on.
